OMG People! If you don't listen to any other take on what Trump said last night, and I've posted several, as have many people, you've got to listen to this one. Mitch Jackson is a trial lawyer and what he's saying makes sense and is the most frightening thing I think I've ever heard.
Governments can’t believe how gullible you all are.
They’ve got the young blaming pensioners, pensioners blaming the young, nationals blaming immigrants, workers blaming benefit claimants, and the abled blaming the disabled.
Anyone but the elite.
How are y’all so exploitable?
In his book Collapse, Jared Diamond studied a dozen societies across thousands of years, from the Maya to the Vikings, to answer one question: why do great civilizations fall? What he found wasn't drought, war or bad luck. None of those were ever enough on their own. The one thing present in every collapse was how the people at the top responded to what was happening below them.
The warning sign he found again and again was leaders who were completely insulated from the pain of ordinary people. When the powerful never feel the consequences, they stop seeing the problem, and when they stop seeing it, they stop fixing it. The Maya kings kept enriching themselves and building monuments while the farmers who fed them went hungry. Their civilization didn't fall because of one bad year. It fell because the people in charge had stopped living in the same world as everyone else.
Diamond called them "distant managers." They are the people in power who live so far from the damage that they are the last to understand how bad it has gotten. By the time they notice, the fields are already empty.
His most important finding was that collapse is a choice. Every society that fell had leaders who could have changed course and chose not to. The question for us is whether we will keep letting people who can't see us make that choice for us. Because we are there folks.
@mechauthor Yes, the gaslighting feels surreal, outside the realm of normal existence. Trump’s psychopathology relies on the target feeling that their behavior is too evil to be true, so we must be the ones losing our minds.
@AuthorMJClifton I truly wish more people could see “The Abuser” mindset that permeates all he says and does. We’ve been busy pointing out the criminal and the narcissistic behaviors… but it really does boil down to “ABUSE” And we’ve all become victims of his insidious, pervasive abuse‼️VOTE💙
How does a narcissist/psychopath (predator) get so much power over another human being?
1. ‘Love bombing’. They work out what a person‘s deepest wants and needs are, then they powerfully fill them. People often report feeling truly seen, truly understood for the first time ever. This kind of focus is like a drug and hard for people to let go of.
2. The narcissist slowly erodes a person’s sense of confidence through very subtle comments that undermine.
3. The narcissist/psychopath waits until they are in a position of legal strength before they show their true self (eg marriage, a baby).
4. Predators intermittently withdraw their supreme focus, which is disorienting for the victim. The victim says and does things they would not ordinarily do to get back the singular focus of the predator.
5. The predator slowly isolates their victim through highly manipulative and covert strategies often couched as consideration for their victim.
There are in fact, many tactics a predator users to control the victim. Their insight and ability to control is extraordinary.
Crazy how it wasn’t the pedophilia, corruption, racism, higher cost to live, or the data centers across the country damaging other people’s way of life that mattered.
But it took a data center right in his own backyard to cause concern. This has to be a metaphor for something 🤔
The problem with America's founding mythos of rugged individualism, personal responsibility, and "pulled up by their bootstraps" is you end up with tens of millions of self-centered assholes like this.
We have too many "self-made" men and not nearly enough community organizers.
I have no sympathy for him and those of his ilk…but I’m happy to hear them say they’re done voting for Republicans, especially those who say they’re going to vote for Democrats.
