Mrs Fitzsimmons' @CHSSciences Y8 students have been looking at microbes & the uses of fungus. They did a yeast investigation to find out what makes dough rise & which conditions are best. Two students even turned theirs into loaves of bread! Praise goes to Kieran K & Katalina W

Y9 students in Mrs Fitzsimmons' @CHSSciences group have been looking at renewable energy sources and some of them have built fabulous models as part of their work.

Mr Tyrrell's Y10 @CHSSciences students have been working on the electromagnetic spectrum. Jacob C "went above and beyond what I asked him to complete as he put together this poster to show the different parts of the spectrum." Great work, Jacob!

Mrs Figiel's Y8 @CHSSciences students investigated the combustion of non-metals yesterday. They used a word equation: Fuel+Oxygen->Carbon Dioxide+Water & linked to the practical to predict what products would form & how to test if it's correct.

Mr Thomas' Y8 @CHSSciences class have been learning about wind power this week. To help to give them a greater understanding of the subject, he challenged them to make a wind turbine of their own. Here are Eva B and Jasmine L's models.

Not only did Year 8, Oliver H, make a working model for Mr Thomas' @chssciences Wind Turbine challenge, he also made a short video of it in action! Well done, Oliver, you have every right to be very proud of yourself!

Look away now if you're squeamish! Mrs Figiel's Y7 @CHSSciences students watched a live lung dissection this week on Teams as part of their study of a topic called A&E, all about the human body and how it works. The photos show the bronchi, trachea and a lung tissue sample.

Mrs Figiel's Y7 @CHSSciences students were challenged to make a wind turbine as part of their Energy Resource topic & they produced some marvellous creations. Mrs F has asked students to bring them into school in Sept so that she can create a wind farm display in her room!
