How is it progressive to resurrect a tired policy that has failed wherever it’s been tried? When rents are frozen but landlords’ property taxes, insurance, and repair costs keep rising, buildings fall into disrepair and investors flee to other markets. Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that price controls don’t work. Mr. Mamdani is an economic illiterate trapped in the past — a reactionary posing as a progressive.
BREAKING: The flagship law review at UC Berkeley is poised to delete all internal application records after we reported on the journal's use of personal statements to promote "diversity," sparking concerns that the journal is attempting to destroy evidence of unlawful discrimination.
The law review will vote tomorrow on a document retention policy that would require the journal to delete all "Write-On application materials following the conclusion of each year's Write-On process," as well as any materials related to the election of the journal's Holistic Review Committee. It would also bar the law review from retaining "any recordings of election forums."
As a reminder, law review editors have pledged in writing to "uplift Native voices," weigh "diverse life experience" against "technical editing abilities," and "integrate anti-racist sentiment" into the selection process.
🚨 NEW: For the @WSJ, @Hartz_PhD and I expose the ideological takeover of the American Psychological Association.
The APA is facing the possible loss of its federal accreditation authority following allegations of widespread antisemitism.
But while the APA's antisemitism problem is serious, it's only a symptom of a much deeper ideological rot.
The organization has become so captured by radical left-wing political activism that its commitment to scientific objectivity competence is now in serious doubt.
We examined the program for this year's major APA Division 39 conference, which drew nearly 800 attendees and held 90 panels over four days.
By our count, roughly 70 of the 90 panels were overtly political, and always left-wing. Topics included abolishing the family, queer anarchist psychoanalysis, dismantling gender assessment guidelines, and white supremacy. One session even concluded with a drag show.
There was at least some hope that the threat of losing federal accreditation might prompt some institutional soul-searching. It didn't.
Instead, APA members just elected Candice Hargons as their next president. Her campaign identifies "systemic intersectional oppression" as the profession's "common enemy" and calls for rejecting the traditional scientific notions of objectivity.
Psychologists wield enormous influence over vulnerable patients, and the people seeking treatment deserve the peace of mind knowing that the care they're receiving care is evidence based and not tainted radical politics.
We believe most would agree that federal accreditation should actually mean something. If the APA cannot distinguish its scientific mission from its political activism, the Education Department should reconsider whether it deserves the government's endorsement as an authority over psychological training.

You can fill a million potholes, you can build a bunch of bike lanes, you can claw back a few dollars from the delivery companies for each of the bike delivery guys (and a mayor should do all of these things!) - but if parents in NY are left feeling like the subway their kids use every day isn't safe, and the public school application system is more a game of trickery than an citywide effort to actually get your kid a good education - people will continue to leave NYC in droves. And who can blame them? https://t.co/ZV2DsK7ECw
"According to the norms within many all-male groups, when one man proposes doing something immoral or illegal, the bro code dictates that other men go along with it."
I wish the author had demonstrated any curiosity about the way boys and young men are benefitted from participating in male-only groups the same way female-only spaces can help girls and young women thrive.
In my book, Generation Uncoupled, I found that it was men with fewer social connections who were most likely to express a sense of aggrievement. Who believed they were discriminated against, and said society did not value them. These are the boys & young men who are most likely to find their way to the manosphere.

The arsonist of Limoges city hall has been detained
He is a 40-year-old far-left Antifa activist on France’s national security watch list for his ties to radical ultra-left extremist movements.
He also has a history of police records for “violence against a person holding public authority.”

U.S. Vice President JD Vance said last night that he does not interfere in Israeli elections and only endorses candidates within the United States.
As a reminder, Vance traveled to Hungary on the eve of the elections to support Viktor Orbán.
Brilliant essay on what is happening in France and why;
“Whatever one’s views of the politics of the Middle East, one thing is unquestionable. The flag of Palestine and the keffiyeh have become the default symbols not only of opposition to Israel, but hatred of Western culture and heritage – which is seen as irredeemably arrogant, colonialist and bigoted. This fundamental despising of Western culture by a wide international cohort of young adults, and a cultural mood that sees its destruction as a virtuous cause, unquestionably fed into the protests.”
“More sinisterly, the next day French police released evidence that some rioters had on their person lists of addresses of Jewish-owned stores. In one Marseille street, Jewish-run businesses were set alight, while others weren’t. There is evidence that Islamists with an agenda of ‘globalising the Intifada’ latched onto the riots as a way of targeting Jews.”
EXPEL THIS STUDENT NOW…
A Jefferson High School football player just ATTACKED a Grant High School player who was carrying the American flag as his team ran onto the field…
THIS IS NOT OKAY. EXPEL HIM!!!
"Rage and frenzy will pull down more in half an hour than prudence, deliberation, and foresight can build up in a hundred years."
-Edmund Burke, "Reflections on the Revolution in France"
There is no free speech in situations like this; the gesture was inappropriate given the situation, and there's nothing wrong with punishing the singer. It is a private organization that has the right to set its own rules. But of curse the same punishment should apply if he unveils an Israeli flag. Opera should be ideologically neutral in this sense.
French authorities acknowledge they have “lost control” in major cities as widespread protests, violence and unrest grip the country, prompting calls for curfews to restore order.
The unrest has also disrupted major landmarks, with the Louvre Museum in Paris closing after protesters announced a blockade, while a towering spire in Limoges collapsed in flames. https://t.co/nAai16vfAS
APA Pres: "In this paper, we outline the criteria by which one can determine if they are conducting real #HotGirlScience... The epistemology of #HotGirlScience aligns with Crunk Feminist Commandment #9, lived realities still matter."
They will not self-reform. They will reward.
One of California's oldest Democratic clubs, the New Frontier Democratic Club, is set to honor Professor Melina Abdullah later this week despite a growing record of divisive and troubling behavior.
Surely the club could have found a more deserving honoree.

The left not that long ago meant belief in due process and fairness, a focus on growing the middle class and improving health, education and retirement security. The loudest left online now gleefully cheer on looting and riots, have a nihilistic obsession with identity politics.
That heartbreaking photo of the elderly couple "robbed in Paris"? AI-generated.
Libération's CheckNews ran it through detection tools including Google's SynthID — verdict: created or modified by AI. The anomalies are hiding in plain sight: a hand with four fingers, a figure with two heads on one body.
To be clear: police sources did report a similar alleged incident near Place de la République during the October 17 protests. But the photo going viral is synthetic.
