We tell people to just 'be themselves' in an interview, but does anyone really show up without their professional mask? Abby discusses how redesigning recruitment has helped remove barriers, form better connections, and hire the 'right kind of folks.'

"Learning is change."
...and the raw vulnerability of it still takes us by surprise.
But there is hope in the shared embodied experience of learning, (even if sometimes the night *is* dark and full of terrors) ๐.

When you put decision making into the hands of the community, wonderful things happen!
When we started facilitating the Gateshead community bridge builders we had no idea where they would take things - but they have created community magic! https://t.co/sVx80cCYPu
Autonomy sounds great... until you try it. What is it about 'working for ourselves' that feels so terrifying? (Hint: It's, uh, the terror... the terror is terrifying... who knew!)

Reflecting on hiring without a CV or cover letter (comms):
It felt important to allow lived experience to compete with the professional, to experiment with deconstructing the systems behind hiring, and allow people to be people - not pieces of paper!

Interviewing the company before even applying for the job?!
Yes! We gave space for candidates AND interviewers to be 'people first' during our latest experiment in recruiting - and it was one of our favourite parts!
Would you try the same?

@AdamMGrant There's also a certain amount of bravery required in communicating this openly. It isn't easy to be vulnerable (I don't understand, do you mean XYZ?) or to confront a misunderstanding. It takes practice and conscious communication!
