Heartbroken to hear about Jaspal Rana’s passing.
Jaspal was my teammate, and in many ways, part of a generation that helped shape Indian shooting. He was intense, gifted, and carried the pride of the country every time he stepped onto the range.
This is a huge loss for our sport. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, students and everyone whose life he touched.

I convey my heartiest congratulations to both the Indian teams, women’s and men’s, for winning the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup. Indian players have demonstrated their supremacy in this traditional game of our country. I am sure that the historic success of our girls and boys will inspire our youth, making the game more popular. I wish both the teams sustained success in the future.
To create a truly inclusive sports environment, providing opportunities for all children to play is essential. We need alternative pathways that allow all athletes, especially grassroots women, to thrive, regardless of medal outcomes.
-Ms Nupur Gupta
Sports has the power to break the cycle of poverty, especially in urban slums and rural areas. For women and girls, sports empower them with confidence, leadership, and decision-making skills, transforming not just their lives but entire communities.
-Dr Nidhi Pundhir
Creating an inclusive and sustainable environment for grassroots sports is essential. Access to sports should not be determined by privilege, and we must focus on enhancing quality so that everyone can enjoy these vital resources.
-Mr Hakimuddin Habibulla
To truly make a difference, we need safe, clean, and green spaces where girls can come out and play. Focusing only on elite sports isn't enough. Financial support at the grassroots level will go a long way in securing more medals and empowering girls.
-Ms Sara Abdullah Pilot
In villages where girls aren't allowed to wear shorts or mingle with boys, bringing them to the field was a challenge. We had to earn the trust of parents and shift societal mindsets so their daughters could step onto the ground and participate in sports.
