Rare example of a surviving charter by a medieval Irish King held by the @NLIreland - from the early 1180s it is a charter of Domnall Mór Ua Briain in which he styles himself 'Donaldus Obreyn, by the grace of God, king of Limerick'.

I heard the sad news at the weekend that the wood engraver Simon Brett died on 29 December. Well known for his his book illustrations (https://t.co/4OD9x2tcyy), he also cut my bookplate for me in 2005.
