Remembering a true legend 🕊️
One of the quiet legends behind Studio Ghibli’s magic ✨
She wasn’t a director or a celebrity voice actor, but her animation helped shape some of the most emotional and visually alive moments in anime history.
As a key animator, Futaki worked on beloved films:
• Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
• My Neighbor Totoro
• Kiki’s Delivery Service
• Princess Mononoke
• Spirited Away
• Howl’s Moving Castle
• Ponyo
• The Wind Rises
• When Marnie Was There
• Akira
• Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise
and many more!
For decades, she was personally trusted by Hayao Miyazaki and the studio with the kind of details that made Ghibli worlds feel real: movement, nature, animals, atmosphere, and quiet emotional expressions. Those small moments are a huge reason so many scenes still stay with fans years later.
June 19 marks her birthday, and her legacy continues through the films that introduced generations of anime fans to the beauty of hand-drawn animation.
Rest in peace, Makiko Futaki 🕯️
Jennifer Aniston posted a heartfelt tribute to her longtime “Friends” director James Burrows, who died on Friday at 85 years old:
“He was a father figure to me. He always checked in on me. He worried about me, celebrated me, taught me, guided me, and held me through the hardest times and the best of times. He spoiled us rotten.” https://t.co/lVegk9GtZP
Yoshinori Kitase says one of his most memorable moments in Famitsu is their rankings as it serves as a big motivation point for game developers.
For Final Fantasy, FFXII and FFXIII-2 both received perfect scores, which he is very proud about 😆
Square Enix says they will be sharing more information on the espers in Final Fantasy Resonance soon.
In the meantime, they shared new footage of the Esper Siren.
‘Lilo & Stitch’ creators Chris Sanders & Dean DeBlois have shared a piece of artwork honoring the late Daveigh Chase.
Chase voiced Lilo in the ‘Lilo & Stitch’ film.
Just read that James Burrows passed away. He was to tv comedy what Mozart was to classical music.
Taxi. Cheers. Friends. Frasier. Will and Grace.
These are just some of the shows that became all-time comedy classics because of him.
Thank you Mr. Burrows, and rest in peace.💔
