Takeaways from the Spurs Game 1 win vs. Oklahoma City:
- Victor Wembanyama just proved he's the best player in the world
- Dylan Harper is going to be a superstar
- Stephon Castle had a nice 17 points and 11 assists, until you see he had 11 turnovers...but played elite defense on SGA
- Devin Vassell was once again huge when the Thunder looked to go on runs
- Julian Champagnie had a few big moments too, but he needs an extra three or two to fall
- Keldon Johnson had some nice moments, but he was terrible defensively and I'm glad Mitch Johnson held him accountable
- That being said, Carter Bryant probably deserved more run because he played amazing defense when he was in
- Luke Kornet was unplayable, and his ankle was probably a big reason why, love his heart though
- The Spurs officially stole homecourt without their All-Star point guard De'Aaron Fox
- Fox was really missed as a ballhandler, Dylan and Steph had some issues and you really need Fox there
- I expect him to be lead guard so Castle can defend SGA while also not running lead guard
- Alex Caruso won't shoot like that again all series, but the fact Wemby continued to guard him was unacceptable
- But SGA likely won't shoot that bad again
- Somehow it felt like the Thunder shot horribly but they still shot 37.8% from three, that's not a bad split
- This felt like the best officiated game of the playoffs, the balance between physicality and real fouls was found
- The Spurs have to take better care of the basketball, but Fox will fix some of those issues
- Spurs dominate the rebounding and points in the paint battle, the Spurs win the game
- But have to have more effort on the defensive glass, they got lazy at times, allowing OKC offensive rebounds
- I fully expect the Thunder to come out swinging, this series is probably going to be 1-1
- But with Fox coming back, the Spurs confidence through the roof, we'll see...
1-0, seven more!!! #PorVida
