July is Impaired Driving Awareness month. If you have been drinking or consuming drugs, don't get behind the wheel. Choosing to drive sober, or helping someone else make that choice, can mean the difference between someone coming home safely or not at all.

🚨 We’re reminding Stampede goers that if you see something suspicious or believe you have been the victim of a crime while on the grounds, here is how you can report it:

🔹 Go to Stampede Security at the Big Four Building
🔹 Call non-emergency at 403-266-1234
🔹 Call 911 in an emergency
📣 We work closely with the Calgary Stampede & other law enforcement agencies to co-ordinate operations. Staying vigilant & reporting any suspicious behaviour or incidents of crime helps to keep our communities safe.
That was fast! Less than two hours into our first Stampede week shift, our team had two drivers in custody for impaired driving-related offences. If you’re enjoying the Stampede, please plan a safe & responsible way home.
Driving impaired is never Ok.
On Friday, June 26, 2026, at around 5:40 p.m., we stopped a Volkswagen travelling 145 km/h and moving erratically between lanes on Stoney Trail near 17 Ave. S.E.

Making a conscious decision to ignore the river closure and recreate on our closed waterways is a conscious decision to endanger the safety of first responders, all of whom are fellow community members.

On Monday, June 22, 2026, at 11:00 p.m., we pulled over a motorist travelling 109 km/h in a 50 km/h construction zone on southbound Deerfoot Trail near Anderson/Bow Bottom Trail S.E. The driver had bought the car just hours earlier & it was neither insured nor registered. The driver also couldn't provide his licence or a bill of sale for the vehicle.

ℹ️ Having valid insurance is mandatory. It is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to obtain valid insurance & the driver’s responsibility to produce proof of insurance upon request of a police officer. Failing to do so can result in a violation ticket including a mandatory court appearance & the vehicle being towed.

🔎 NEED TO IDENTIFY 🔍
We are looking for the public’s help to identify a man who is believed to have used counterfeit currency during a Facebook Marketplace sale.

The victim and suspect met online through Facebook Marketplace, where the suspect had been using a fake profile.
Investigators have made attempts to identify the man, which have been unsuccessful thus far, & are now asking for the public’s help.
🔍 The man is described as 20 to 25 years old, with brown hair & a moustache. He was wearing a maroon-coloured ‘Champion’ hoodie & black pants.

❗Safety tips for online sales
The CPS encourages Calgarians to follow these tips to protect themselves when selling items through online classified websites:
✅ Meet in a safe, public place. If possible, arrange to meet a police station as a secure option. The Calgary Police Service has marked buy & sell zones at each District Office for these transactions.
✅ Check the buyer’s profile for red flags, such as personal photos, very few friends, minimal activity or recently created profiles.
✅ Verify contact information by asking for a phone number & making a direct phone call to ensure the number is legitimate.
✅ Use e-transfer rather than cash, as this discourages thieves who rely on quick cash transactions.
✅ Trust your instincts, if something feels off, you are under no obligation to proceed with the sale until payment has been made.
On Friday, June 12, 2026, officers stopped a BMW being driven 114 km/h in a 60 km/h zone along eastbound 96 Avenue N.E., at Deerfoot Trail. There were two young children in the backseat at the time.
🔴 The driver received a mandatory court summons, a $243 ticket for an unsafe lane change & a $105 ticket for illegally tinted windows.
‼️ Speeding & vehicle modifications like illegal window tint can reduce visibility & increase risk for everyone on the road. Slow down, follow vehicle regulations & help keep our roads safe.

⚠️ Speed limits are in place to keep everyone safe. Slow down & drive responsibly.
