I don’t think we respect the Simpsons musical adaptation of a Streetcar Named Desire enough. It should be spoken about with the same kind of reverence as Planet of the Apes the musical but I think it’s cause most people don’t know Streetcar isn’t a musical.
The ending of La La Land (2016) hurts in such a specific way. That entire dreamlike montage showing the life Mia and Sebastian could’ve had together, only for the movie to quietly return to reality with one last look across the room.

“You Only Move Twice” from The Simpsons (1989) gave us Hank Scorpio, still the greatest one-off character the show ever created. A supervillain who’s somehow a better boss, friend and life coach to Homer than anyone in Springfield.
Seymour waiting for Fry in Futurama (1999) is still emotionally devastating. The episode spends the whole time setting up a dumb sci-fi dog joke, then suddenly hits you with a dog waiting outside for years thinking his owner might still come back.

You get what you vote for.
