Not really sure what the point of this is and appreciate it's basically a load of waffle, but feel like I can't not mention the train journey home from Rotherham.
Normally in the car so not sure if it's a regular occurrence (I can guess), but as soon as we got to Rotherham station, we had a decent-sized group of County fans consistently chanting stuff about 'Tommy Robinson', 'wanting the country back' etc which didn't really let up from then on. I'm not saying at all that I'm offended by that kind of thing but there was then more specific racial, trans etc stuff on the train itself towards individuals/other passengers.
Not really fussed about getting involved in debates about politics and people's own beliefs etc, but it's a bit sad to me that this is the impression of County being put out there to the public. Can only speak for myself but personally just not sure what place it has on an away day and why there wouldn't just be County chants, especially on the back of a win? There were plenty on the platform not happy with things being said/chanted and a few trying to shout it down, but the perception from the public travelling on trains and seeing County fans walking through town centres chanting this stuff will be a perception of the fanbase overall.
I guess there'll be the usual 'why didn't anyone say anything at the time', but I think most rational people will recognise that people can disagree with something, without wanting to risk an issue with a large group who've been out on the beers etc all day.
We sat on the train home and had a couple of beers with two sound Sheff Utd fans, and bumped into Charlton fans having a drink and chanting about Tanto etc. There'll be similar stories from fans of other clubs who've had loads of good experiences with County fans, but the lasting impression for most people on the platform/trains will unfortunately be of the daft chants (and racial/other abuse from a handful).
I don't know when it started, but it'd be nice for County fans as a whole to be seen in the positive light we generally are (from a footballing sense) for the noise we make at games and the numbers we travel in etc, and it's hard not to think that this stuff from a minority damages that. Like I said initially, not sure of a solution and I'm just rambling without an answer, but it really wasn't the best way to round off three points.
