Not a day goes by that we don't think of Charlie. To the world, he was Charles Keating IV-an elite Navy SEAL. But to us, he was just Charlie. A son, brother, husband, cousin, and friend who could light up a room with his laugh.

On May 3, 2016, we lost him in Iraq while he was doing what he believed in-protecting others. He died a hero.

We miss him every day, but we carry him with us. Through the work of the C4 Foundation, through the stories we tell, and through every moment where we feel his presence.

We love you, Charlie. Always. Thank you for continuing to be a bright light in all of our lives.

There will be both team and individual categories.
$30 entry includes an event T-shirt.

Heave Ho will also be donating 10% of event sales to the C4 Foundation, and will be serving coffee throughout — because everything’s better with coffee.

The Tug-Of-War competition will lead in to the URT Dig which begins at 1 pm at Dog Beach!

Ten years ago, Charlie "Chuck" Keating IV was killed in northern Iraq.

Chuck was a Navy SEAL. He was also a collegiate runner, a surfer, and the kind of person who lived on a sailboat because why wouldn't you. His teammates describe him as the guy who would stay late to help a struggling shooter dial in his accuracy, or walk a new point man through how to build a good route. He loved being a SEAL, and the guys loved working with him.

On the morning of May 3rd, 2016, ISIS launched a massive assault across multiple points along the Peshmerga front lines near Tal Uskaf in Kurdistan. Chuck's team was operating out of a separate location about an hour away. When they heard what was happening, they drove straight into it. He arrived with additional SEALs, ammo, and a calm aggression his platoon needed at that moment.

During the firefight, Chuck moved to an elevated position to deal with an ISIS sniper who had his teammates pinned. He was engaging enemy positions when he took a single round just above his body armor. He didn't make it. The fight went on for hours after that, and Peshmerga eventually regained control of the town, but Chuck was gone.

His father, Charlie Keating III, started the C4 Foundation shortly after. C4 runs a ranch in eastern San Diego where NSW families come together to work on communication, family dynamics, mental health. SOF life grinds down the entire family if there's no support structure around it. C4 is that structure.

Our head of ops Joe served alongside Chuck. He was there that day.

On May 25th, Aurelius Systems and General Catalyst are hosting a Memorial Day workout on the flight deck of the USS Hornet in Alameda. All proceeds go to C4 Foundation.

This past weekend, we hosted a special day in Coronado for children whose dads will be gone a little longer than expected. We filled the day with an Easter egg hunt, games, laughter, and plenty of pizza—generously donated by @littlecaesars 🍕

Aurelius Systems and @generalcatalyst are co-hosting, Operation Charlie. This is in support of the @CKIVFoundation. C4 was started by Charlie Keating III after his son Chuck, a Navy SEAL, was killed fighting ISIS in northern Iraq in 2016.

The foundation runs a ranch in eastern San Diego where NSW families come together. Communication, family dynamics, mental health. SOF life is hard on everyone around the operator, and C4 makes sure they don't carry it alone.
