A few folks have asked me to host a zoom conversation so we can have more in depth discussions touching on some of the topics I frequently tweet about.
If you were going to attend, what subject would you like to be covered first?
(RT for exposure, please 😁)
During this month of June, dedicated in a special way to the Heart of Christ, we can repeat this simple prayer: “Jesus, make my heart resemble yours”. In this way, our own hearts will slowly but surely become more patient, more generous, more merciful...
@HollyStallcup OMG this exact thread is so much YES!! I used to think the most important thing was the faith component now I say...does he see a therapist??
I deeply believe Christ calls us to unity & I so want it. But calls to unity without serious regard for what broke us to pieces is like pouring fresh concrete over a collapsed bridge. Someone recently tweeted me this page out of Chasing Vines. These aren’t answers. Just thoughts.
10 yrs ago I sat in a room with a few pastors, one of whom was in the midst of a meteoric rise in fame. I noticed him frequently making sexist, inappropriate jokes, while the other pastors laughed. They brushed it off as harmless, and continued to commend him to me & others. (1/)
I’m believing that some folks who didn’t believe in white privilege saw how the white folks attacking the Capitol today were treated, then thought about any peaceful BLM march... and have since changed their minds.
I don’t want law enforcement to violate the people that they encounter on Capitol Hill today.
I just want law enforcement to stop violating people when they’re protesting racism and police brutality.
The U.S. is experiencing a direct physical attack on our democracy that was egged on by the president of the United States. This wasn’t just foreseeable. It was foreseen. We watched it unfold step-by-step, and when we raised the alarm, we were accused of TDS.
This is what domestic terrorism looks like.
This is Donald Trump’s America.
Imagine the police response if these were Black people BREAKING INTO the Capitol.
If you don’t see white supremacy and a total threat to democracy when you see this, it’s because you don’t want to.
Every time I hear that we have only elected 11 black senators in all of American history, I feel stunned. This says everything we need to know about the doors of leadership that are actually open to people of color.
If you’re looking for evil you will find it. But you’ll also be paranoid & miserable.
I suggest instead 4 you to look 4 miracles, & look 4 the loving hand of God in the mundane. Because you will find it. It’s there. It’s just harder to see when you’re hyper focus is on the bad.
I do not believe these are days for mincing words. I’m 63 1/2 years old & I have never seen anything in these United States of America I found more astonishingly seductive & dangerous to the saints of God than Trumpism. This Christian nationalism is not of God. Move back from it.
