A7 we ran an English/Geography/Science task for Year 7 last year on Water! Was so good and the Year 8 students are still talking about it. If they can see teachers collaborate then the students will benefit from it as well #aussieEd
@slcooper99#aussieEd an example from my Year 10 History lesson, worksheets for the students have more information on the exact activities but the difficulty of tasks vary
Q5 - How can we encourage student inquiry in our classroom? Trevor Mackenzie suggests without scaffolding inquiry students may not feel confident, supported, or empowered? #aussieED@trev_mackenzie
A6 I feel questioning is an art and a skill that as a learner/teacher I am still developing and have not mastered yet even after many years of teaching! #aussieEd
Q6 - Questions are the heart of the inquiry classroom and the foundation of the inquiry mindset" how do you use questions in your classroom to guide inquiry? #aussieED@trev_mackenzie
@CameronRoss3@trev_mackenzie A5. I agree with Trev. Inquiry is a skill, Ss need practice asking Q, breaking their inquiry down, researching & locating information, crafting artifacts & sharing their learning. We can't expect on day 1 or 100 they will be ready for free inquiry. They need support #aussieed
@AdrianoDiPrato Completely agree and live reporting is something that I hope can happened soon! I feel like I am already doing this through our LMS and then having to rehash for reports #aussieEd
@CameronRoss3@trev_mackenzie + A3: Schools have a responsibility to empower students around their own personal learning analytics and growth data. Inviting all learners to own their individual progress through formative assessment - self, peer and from their teacher, and self reflection. #aussieED
A4 Hand in hand! However it also requires a rethink of subjects and timetabling to give the space and time required for creativity and inquiry - 50min lessons just don’t cut it! #aussieEd
A3 by teaching students what it means to be a learner and not just teaching them the content! They need to know how to collaborate, question, persevere, research etc #aussieEd
Q3 - “Selecting learning evidence empowers students to begin taking ownership over the assessment of their learning” - how can we encourage metacognition and reflection in our Ss learning? #aussieED@trev_mackenzie
Yes I agree this is SO important and also boosts student engagement, I have a difficult Yr 10 class at the moment so I stopped teaching the other day and we spent the whole lesson discussing what needed to be learnt and how they wanted to learn it #aussieEd
A2 Amplification of Ss voice from smallest thing like a newsletter through to a class using Twitter to connect 2 the world is vital 2 the inquiry learning process as Ss feel that what they are learning means something as people other than their teachers are reading it #aussieEd
Q2 - as an educator how can we amplify students learning opportunities through empowering student's voice? and What benefits come from teaching from an inquiry stance? #aussieED@trev_mackenzie
