I'm a #SpecialEducation teacher. I teach students who have suffered trauma. They often break their supplies during emotional crisis. I keep extra supplies. Children need supplies to learn, and every child has a right to learn. Please help me #clearthelist https://t.co/DhtRG422to
Here's to my 7th year! I have been teaching children with emotional disorders for 6 years. My students have been in foster care facilities instead of individual homes. My team and I are the most consistent faces they see. Please help me #clearthelist https://t.co/L3JD3aCf4N
@netflix My parents gave me the world. As a small token of my appreciation I pay for their streaming services. On FATHER'S DAY! My daddy had to discover that he could no longer access our Netflix account. You should be ashamed!
I called the state representative for my district after hours on purpose to leave a voice-mail in support of teacher raises. Her staffer called me at 6:30pm and insisted on hearing my concerns. I was stocked.
I always find it funny when people come to my class the first time and say "Oh they're learning, and you're teaching!" Yes, it's a behavior classroom, but I want them to go back to a traditional classroom one day. They won't know how to behave there if they don't practice here.
@colbertlateshow had elementary children pitch a scary movie. It was hilarious, but also a great creative writing exercise. Having a group of students brainstorm together to create a story is amazing.
Today I had my students go to each person's table and write what their "Super Character Trait" was. They spend so much time "roasting" each other that all of them have self-esteem issues. I made them think about what they admire about their classmates. They loved it!
We always start the year with strict routines so the students learn consequences for not just negative behavior but also positive. My guys have been doing a great job so we had a hands on fun Friday! Dominos for math, group centers, and measuring colored water for science!
Finding fun, intellectually challenging activities for breaks can be difficult when teaching students with behavior outburst. Today I introduced my students to Einstein Riddles. They were locked in and actively listening the whole time. Success! #teacherlife
