With the final race last night completed and Russell Gernaat of Canyon Lake headed home, the focus has turned to 2024 Paralympics in Paris. Russell finished in fourth place in the non-medal B final PR2 Mix Doubles Scull rowing race in Tokyo last night, placing 10th overall.

Canyon Lake's Russell Gernaat's quest for a medal in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics have ended after a fourth-place finish in the repechages portion of the mixed double rowing last night. Russell and Los Angeles partner Laura Goodkind will compete in a non-medal B finals tonight.

Russell's Paralympic medal hopes are still alive, however, as the remaining 10 teams will compete again in the repechages. The top two boats from each repechage make the final alongside the two boats that won the heats. Those races take place tonight. https://t.co/WqB2fCcIuA

Canyon Lake rower Russell Gernaat and mixed rowing partner Laura Goodkind from Los Angeles finished fifth in their first heat of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics last night. Only the first place finisher in the two heats automatically advance to the finals.

Canyon Lake City Councilmember and former mayor Jordan Ehrenkranz has passed away. He served on the council for 12 years and on the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association Board of Directors for five years before that, where he served as president 3 times.

The clinics are at the Storm Stadium in Lake Elsinore and at the County Fair Grounds by Lake Perris and will provide vaccines free of charge, however, those who show up must have already obtained an appointment. Appointments are set at the county website. https://t.co/m0OyVZfuwC.

At noon today (Thursday) appointments can be made for a small number of vaccines that have come available for three vaccination centers in the county, two of which are close by in Lake Elsinore and Perris. Those 65 and over will need to set an appointment before showing up.

A sixth person from Canyon Lake has died from the COVID-19 virus. For the first time, the person who died is younger than 65 years of age (was in the 40-65 age range). Names are not released, but we know this person was a white male. The city has had a total of 599 positive cases

County's latest update getting closer to final results in Canyon Lake City Council election. Top 3 look secure in securing seats: Dale Welty (2,585), Jordan Ehrenkranz (2,538), Larry Greene (2,352), Jim Randle (1,632) and Paul Kakis (1,526). Probably, <1,000 CL votes yet to count

County still needs to count an estimated 1,300 more Canyon Lake ballots. Still not final, but here are the current city council tallies: Dale Welty (2,304), Jordan Ehrenkranz (2,248), Larry Greene (2,099), Jim Randle (1,421) and Paul Kakis (1,335). The top three win.

Riverside County has finally counted more Canyon Lake votes and just released updated results for city council. Still not final, but here are the current tallies: Dale Welty (2,006), Jordan Ehrenkranz (1,934), Larry Greene (1,812), Jim Randle (1,257) and Paul Kakis (1,172).

The results so far, with 3,459 voters having been counted, are Dale Welty (1,734), Jordan Ehrenkranz (1,624), Larry Greene (1,543), Jim Randle (1,043) and Paul Kakis (999). The top three win. It is anticipated with a 75% turnout, 2,500 more voters will be counted (3 votes per).

Canyon Lake City Council election results have stalled as county stops issuing results until Thursday evening as it tabulates 400,000 mail-in ballots. Three open spots on the City Council will be filled after final results are announced, hopefully, at that time.

Canyon Lake City Council early returns (37.25%) have Dale Welty (1,516 votes) and the two incumbents Jordan Ehrenkranz (1,404) and Larry Greene (1,344) leading the election for the three open seats. Jim Randle (890) and Paul Kakis (870) trail. Updates coming as votes are counted.

Mark Vermillion, 61, was charged with attempting to murder his elderly mother at her South Fork Dr home in #CanyonLake. Mark called 911 and allegedly said he had just attempted to kill his mother with a hacksaw. Half of her right foot was severed. She is in stable condition.
