➡️ REFORM UK MOTIONS AT THE FIRST FULL COUNCIL
2️⃣ Our second is a motion calling for a full review of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs).
Residents across the city have raised serious and legitimate concerns about the proliferation of HMOs, their poor standards, bad property management, parking pressures and links to anti-social behaviour.
At the moment, the true scale and condition of HMOs across Sunderland is not fully evidenced. That is why we are calling for a comprehensive, evidence led review.
Our motion asks the Council to look properly at:
- The number and location of HMOs across Sunderland
- Housing standards and compliance
- The impact on residents, streets and local services
- Whether current enforcement powers are working
- Whether further action, including licensing or stronger enforcement is needed
This is about standing up for locals and making sure you are not ignored.
Reform UK Wearside will always back strong action to protect our neighbourhoods and to raise housing standards.
@YoungBobRB This kind of abhorrent and disgusting behaviour isn’t welcome on our streets. It was hard to watch. I hope you make a swift recovery and the police hold those responsible for the attacks accountable.
@GauciReports@YoungBobRB@FinbarPowe98847 There is absolutely no place for this abhorrent behaviour on our streets. Regardless of political beliefs this is disgusting and damn wrong.
@metpoliceuk I hope you prove this two tier policing wrong and hold this criminals to account!

@MPHARRISON2@PatrickChristys@YoungBobRB@metpoliceuk Nobody deserves violence regardless of political beliefs, the fact you are advocating for this shows the hypocrisy in your comment. If the shoe was on the other foot I doubt you would be commenting the same slurs 🙄
➡️ REFORM UK MOTIONS AT THE FIRST FULL COUNCIL
1️⃣ Our first motion is to suspend Sunderland’s involvement in the City of Sanctuary Scheme.
The scheme was an ideological commitment voted for unanimously by the previous Labour administration supported by the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives, WITHOUT consulting Wearside residents.
Reform UK believes the council should focus on local residents, local services and local concerns first.
📢 Stay tuned, this is just the beginning. More announcements to follow this week.
Either social media poses a risk to children or it doesn’t. If it does then every platform should be judged by the same standards and scrutiny. Selective enforcement looks less like child protection and more like political preference. I wonder why Bluesky didn’t make it to this list 🤔
🚨NEW: The confirmed list of social media apps/sites under-16s in the UK will be banned from using:
- TikTok
- YouTube
- Snapchat
- Instagram
- X (formerly twitter)
- Reddit
- Facebook
- Twitch
- Kick
- Threads
Banning social media for under-16s is a simplistic solution to a more complex problem. Young people need digital literacy, online safety education and stronger platform protections, not exclusion from a technology that is now a major part of modern communication and learning.

Myself and a few of the other Coalfields Reform Councillors have attended the PACT meeting hosted by Houghton North Reform Councillors tonight at Kepier Hall.
Some of the topics touched upon were:
Shoplifting, antisocial behaviour, illegal use of e-bikes and Surron bikes and lack of trust from the public to the police.
The most important issue we’ve taken from this meeting is that there’s a huge lack of reporting of crimes throughout the board. It is so important to report any crime. You can report any crime anytime via the following lines:

We just want to say thank you to the officers from Northumbria Police for attending, we as council officials and the residents who attended enjoyed listening and asking questions.
