Difficult to believe that 'de book' is now 20 years old! A real pleasure today to go to Farranferris and talk about Philip Monahan and his life and times. Thanks to Anne Twomey for the invitation and the students for engaging so enthusiastically. #AManApart@corkcitycouncil.
Wishing a happy retirement to Councillor Ted Tynan who has given dedicated service to Cork city over many decades. Ted has been a great supporter of our annual Public Lecture Series and also came to UCC regularly to engage with our students. @corkcitycouncil@echolivecork.
Fantastic interview. Thanks to @pjcoogan and well done to our students who are wonderful ambassadors for the BSc Government and Political Science at UCC. They are living the dream in New York.
Proud to see our BSc Government and Political Science Year 3 students - Aoife Lynch and Robyn Murphy - excelling at the New York State Senate Model Legislative Session last Friday in Albany. What an opportunity! #CK122 🇮🇪 🇺🇲 @GovUCC@ElecCommIRL@fergalbarry@echolivecork
Remembering Philip Monahan who died 43 years ago today. He served as City Commissioner and then City Manager in Cork from 1924 to 1959. He was noted for being flexible in method, but constant in principle - suaviter in modo, fortiter in re.

Great to see our BSc Government and Political Science students thrive on work placement in the New York State Assembly and Senate. Two students, Robyn and Aoife, even met @NYCMayor on St. Patrick's Day. If interested in our degree (CK122) e-mail [email protected] 🇮🇪 🇺🇲. @GovUCC.

#OnThisDay in 2019 the Government published 'Detailed Policy Proposals' in advance of the DEM plebiscites in Cork city, Waterford and Limerick. Despite the title, details were sadly lacking and there was much vagueness. We are seeing the result of that now in Limerick.
My opinion piece in today's @irishexaminer about the Limerick Mayoral model. What are the issues? Cautious legislation, a failure to build relationships and the weakness of Irish local government. @AILGIRE@CLRGUCC@LGiU

Thanks to @NicolaSturgeon for delivering a fantastic Philip Monahan Memorial Lecture at UCC today. She was a pleasure to deal with and is a gifted and natural orator. Plenty of humour thrown in too, especially about an upcoming rugby match. #Monahan26 🏴 🇮🇪 🏉
