We can afford transit.
There is currently a plan to connect Atlanta and Charlotte with high speed rail in under two hours but our leaders would rather make us spend $350 each way on planes than fund this.
This is something I would be very behind. We have a real opportunity to utilize our existing rail ROW in several directions in Charlotte. The same train line that the blue line runs alongside runs through Main Street in both Fort Mill and Rock Hill.
The Charlotte Urbanists and Carolinas Association for Passenger Trains are holding an interest meeting to discuss a proposal for how to begin pushing forward with a Charlotte-Rock Hill rail service.
