Patriotic fervour prevails as GRSE celebrates 79th Independence Day

Kolkata (August 15, 2025): The spirit of patriotism and love for the country prevailed at Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd as the shipyard celebrated Independence Day on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Cmde PR Hari IN (Retd.), Chairman and Managing Director, GRSE, hoisted the National Flag before inspecting an impressive guard of honour by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Among the others present were Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN(Retd.), Director (Shipbuilding), GRSE, Capt (IN) P Sunilkumar (Retd.), Director (Corporate Planning & Personnel), GRSE, Shri Abhishek Ranjan, CVO, GRSE, Shri Pushkar Parashar, Senior Commandant, CISF and senior officials from GRSE & CISF.

CMD in his address, appreciated the role of the CISF in ensuring security at the GRSE units. He also highlighted the initiatives of Atmanirbharta and technological advancement. GRSE has made giant strides in both these areas, “Operation Sindoor was a validation of our nation’s Atmanirbharta policy and a clear reminder that overdependence on imports in the defence sector does not pay. No matter how advanced foreign systems may be, there can be no substitute for home-grown technologies in safeguarding our sovereignty,” Cmde Hari said.

He also spoke on how the next few years will witness delivering several warships by the shipyard. He highlighted efforts by GRSE to build more commercial vessels and extend its already proven expertise in green technology to larger platforms.

“With 40 vessels - including 14 warships for the Indian Navy, 9 export vessels & 17 domestic commercial vessels- under construction, every corner of our yards is

humming with activity. From advanced naval platforms to zero-emission and hybrid-propulsion vessels, GRSE is committed to delivering excellence and expanding its footprint in both defence and commercial shipbuilding,” Cmde Hari added
