Thanks, Durham.
I am burdened with a debt of gratitude and love that I will never fully be able to repay. But Im going to try because Durham will always be my home.
Durham today.
Durham tomorrow.
❤️💛💙 #DurhamForever
This afternoon, I shared the following letter with our amazing @CityofDurhamNC employees.
“I leave our beloved City of Durham in your excellent hands.”
So proud of the work of great leaders on the @DCHCMPO board to push forward with this plan.
This road map to a better NC transportation future presents an unusual route. https://t.co/bFNJIO77h6
Spent some time this afternoon with the folks at @DurhamBeautiful out at @DurhamSouthern planting trees and spreading mulch and compost. Click the link below to look for your opportunity to join them this month, they really are keeping Durham beautiful! ❤️https://t.co/Ced34srxwU
@Bec_Shrader I know, I know — it can be hard for those of us in Durham to acknowledge when our hometown team gets beat by a fantastic UNC squad. Still, I just have to admit that Carolina played so much better than Duke, especially down the stretch!
But like I said, many thanks to Coach K. 👍🏻
As a member of the Durham City Council, I want to thank Coach K for his contributions to our community over the years. And though it pains me to do so, I must congratulate the Carolina men’s basketball team for their wonderful and amazing win tonight here in Durham.
Today, a majority of the council has given staff direction to move forward with pilot program for the deployment of Shotspotter gunshot detection technology here in the city of Durham.
Some personal and professional news this evening:
I will be resigning from the Durham City Council effective March 7, 2022.

So I should probably let y'all know that this account will go inactive at about 7:15pm on Monday, March 7th, when my colleagues will (hopefully) vote to accept my letter of resignation from the Durham City Council. I'll change the handle to @CM_REECEARCHIVE at that time. 👍🏻
@mimcRED @fish33cat I understand your position and I share it. If you want to provide your thoughts on this decision to the council, email [email protected]
@BullCityLife200 Like most other complicated public policy issues, 280 characters can’t really do it justice. Which is one of the many reasons why I wanted a broader conversation across Durham about this technology, like what the city did in 2015 with police worn body cameras.
@BullCityLife200 But all the work in the world and even the significant reductions we saw in shootings in 2021 are all cold comfort to our neighbors who are living with — and too often dying from — daily gun violence in their communities. We need to do more and do better.
