David Arakhamia — facing corruption allegations in the Verkhovna Rada and accused of helping ensure that MPs discover the “correct” way to vote, allegedly with a little motivational literature delivered in envelopes.

Quite the welcoming committee.

European politicians are now in the same position as Zelensky - they cannot afford for the war to end. Because the end of the war is a kind of final reckoning, when the books will have to be balanced: how much money was spent, how many lives were lost, and what was ultimately achieved.

And if it turns out that after more than four years of bloodshed, hundreds of billions spent, and tens of thousands of lives lost, the terms of peace are worse than those offered in Istanbul in 2022, someone will have to answer for it - politically, at the very least.

And given that governments in most European countries are already barely clinging to power, a Ukrainian fiasco would effectively mean the end of their political careers.

So they keep dragging things out - especially since they themselves do not have to fight for Ukraine to the last Ukrainian. They are stalling in the hope that somehow, eventually, things will sort themselves out. Maybe Ukraine will cease to exist altogether - that outcome would suit them just fine as well. Anything but formally acknowledging defeat.

Interpol logged 4,798 vehicles stolen in Canada and later found in Russia between early 2024 and mid-2026.

The RCMP says Russia is the top foreign destination, thieves want the big ones: Rams, Tundras, F-150s, all packed into containers, run through places like the UAE, then sold into a market sanctions emptied and crime filled.

Now Moscow is moving to let some of those cars get registered anyway.

That is the gut punch... a stolen vehicle used to mean a local problem. Now it can mean your keys went across an ocean, and the country that ended up with the truck wants to call it theirs.

Canada’s greatest weakness may be its arrogance, the belief that we remain a global example simply because we keep telling ourselves we are.

We boast about our healthcare, institutions, economy and moral leadership while ignoring the dysfunction, declining services and falling standard of living right in front of us.

Patriotism is not pretending everything is fine. It is caring enough about your country to confront reality, demand better and do the hard work required to rebuild it.

Canada’s reputation cannot survive indefinitely on nostalgia and self-congratulation.

A country that believes it is above criticism will soon find itself beneath the standards it once claimed to represent.
