Excerpts from the Friday Sermon
Title: “A Clarification on the Ruling of Celebrating (Mawlid)”
By Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, Imam and Khateeb of Masjid al-Haram
• A Muslim is commanded to follow (the Prophet ﷺ) and forbidden from innovations and introducing matters contrary to the religion. Allah said: “O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger”. And the Prophet ﷺ said: “Beware of newly invented matters, for every newly invented matter is a bid‘ah, and every bid‘ah is misguidance.” He ﷺ also said: “Whoever lives among you will see many differences, so hold on to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided caliphs after me. Hold on to it tightly with your molar teeth. And beware of newly invented matters.”
• The righteous predecessors (may Allah have mercy on them) strongly warned against innovations and commanded adherence to the Sunnah and leaving all forms of bid‘ah. Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Follow and do not innovate, for you have been sufficed. Hold fast to the old way, for it is enough for you.” And Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Every innovation is misguidance, even if people see it as good.”
• Bid‘ah changes the religion, distorts the truth, and replaces the Sunnah with innovation. It takes root in hearts and spreads among people, weakening their bond with Allah and leading them astray.
• Among the most famous innovations is what is done in Rabi‘ al-Awwal in celebrating the birthday of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet and his companions did not do it, nor did the rightly guided caliphs, nor those who followed them with excellence.
• Mawlid celebrations include many violations such as mixing of genders, extravagance, raising voices with singing and poetry, and using frivolous words.
• Imam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “If a season is taken as a religious season without basis in the Shariah, like celebrating nights of Rabi‘ al-Awwal which they call ‘the Prophet’s birthday,’ it is an innovation that was never practiced by the pious predecessors. Gathering for the Mawlid contains no religious benefit but rather resembles Christian practices.”
• The truth is that Mawlid celebrations today have become gatherings of dancing, eating, unlawful mixing, and invitations to misguidance. People claim to love the Prophet ﷺ while engaging in innovations he never commanded.
• True love of the Prophet ﷺ is not by innovating, but by following his Sunnah. Allah said: “Say, if you love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your sins.”
• There is no benefit in innovations; rather, they are misguidance. Whoever calls to them is reviving falsehood and extinguishing the light of the truth. The authentic texts clearly forbid such gatherings, which only open doors of misguidance and ignorance.
• Message to the Ummah: Fear Allah regarding yourselves. Abandon these innovations and misguidances. Hold fast to the Sunnah of your Prophet ﷺ. Islam began as something strange, and it will return to being strange, so glad tidings to the strangers.
Do you know why the political class remains unmoved by our struggles?
Because it doesn’t affect them.
Their children study in top global universities like LSE, Harvard and oxford.
They come back not to compete, but to rule us.
No job anxiety, no queues, no exams.
Their career is politics, inherited not earned. And we expect them to understand our pain?
Only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches. These are the same politicians who exploit reservations for vote banks not justice.
May God help the common youth.

Another Shocking data.
1200 selections but Kashmir was reduced to a mere spectator in its own recruitment!
JKPSI Recruitment Scam, Numbers That Expose the Discrimination.
Crafted by Sahil Parray
(1) Total Posts = 1200
Exam conducted by JKSSB through Aptech, infamous for recruitment scams.
Conducted in 2022 under the old reservation policy, When Open Merit (OM) had at least 50% share. Now? It is down to just 30%.
(2) Category-wise breakup.
. OM=600
. SC=96
. ST=120
. OSC=48
.ALC/IB=48
. RBA=120
. PSP= 48
.EWS=120
. Out of 600 reserved seats.
(523 seats (87.16%) went to Jammu)
(Only 77 seats (12.83%) to Kashmir)
(3) Category-specific regional loot.
•SC=96 → 96 Jammu (100%), 0 Kashmir
•ST=120 → 106 Jammu (88%), 14 Kashmir
•OSC=48 → 42 Jammu ( 88%), 6 Kashmir
•ALC/IB=48 → 48 Jammu (100%), 0 Kashmir
•RBA=120 → 77 Jammu (65%), 43 Kashmir
•PSP=48 → 42 Jammu(88%), 6 Kashmir
•EWS=120 → 112 Jammu (94%), 8 Kashmir
Jammu grabbed 87%+ of all reserved seats & Kashmir was simply sidelined. I am not saying it, the data is speaking.
(4) District-wise selections.
Jammu Division=944 selections (78.66%)
•Jammu=289
•Kathua=125
•Rajouri=119
•Samba=97
•Doda=79
•Udhampur=78
•Poonch=72
•Ramban=34
•Kishtwar=28
•Reasi=23
Kashmir Division=203 selections (16.91%)
•Kupwara=31
•Baramulla=29
•Anantnag=29
•Bandipora=16
•Budgam=20
•Ganderbal=21
•Kulgam=19
•Pulwama=20
•Shopian=9
•Srinagar: 9
The gap is stark. The bias is undeniable.
. Jammu Division (Total selections) = 944/1200 (78.66%)
. Kashmir Division (Total Selections) = 203/1200 (16.91%)
Merit? Representation? Or was it a pre-designed theft?
(5) Even in 600 OM seats.
Only 338 seats (28.16%) went to general category.
Remaining 262 seats (21.83%) grabbed by reserved categories under OM too.
Total picture.
. Reserved Categories = 862 seats (71.83%)
. General Category= 338 seats (28.16%)
(6) Cut-offs. Out of 150 Marks.
OM=108 | SC=59 | ST= 73 | OSC=93
ALC/IB=65 | RBA=100 | PSP=97 | EWS=89
Imagine fighting at 108+ marks while others qualify at 59-73. This is not justice this is murder of merit.
(7) And this was under the old policy (50% OM).
Now? OM can only compete in just 30%. Meaning,
More exclusion, More discrimination, More injustice.
P.S It took me hours, not once but thrice cross-checking every number, name by name, category by category. Every district, every seat. I didn’t want to speak until I was sure of the facts.
These numbers ain’t just data, they reveal a pattern of deep discrimination and injustice. Some of us choose to put in the hard work to expose it, not because it’s easy, but because it’s necessary. If we stay silent, who will speak for the ones who deserved better?

The Imam of Masjid Al-Haram, Sheikh Abdur Rahman Al Sudais, has given an excellent formula for the last ten days of Ramadan.
1. Donate one dirham (one rupee) every day, if the day falls between Lailatul Qadr, you will get the reward of donating one rupee every day for 84 years or 1000 months.
2. Perform two rak'at nafal prayers daily, if the day falls in the middle of Lailatul Qadr, you will get the reward of performing two rak'at nafal prayers daily for up to 84 years.
3. Recite Surah Ikhlas three times daily, if the day falls in the middle of Lailatul Qadr, you will get the reward of reciting one Khatam Qur'an every day for 84 years.
He also said, spread these words among the people, those who will listen to your words and do deeds, you too will get rewards equal to their deeds, inshallah. Because the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, "The one who guides good deeds will receive the same amount of reward as the doer, but there will be no deficiency in the reward of the doer." (Muslim, 2674)
May Allah grant us all to do more deeds. Amen.❤️
