A graduate of Moundridge High School, Unrau has spent two decades in education and is currently in his third year leading the athletic department at Valley Center Middle School. Some of his proudest accomplishments include starting the girls wrestling program at VCMS, creating “EdZone,” a weekly classroom engagement highlight show, and helping build one of the top middle school athletic environments in Kansas. He continues to lead growth in areas such as flag football, esports, golf, and facility improvements.
“Being the Athletic Director at Valley Center Middle School is special,” Unrau says. “We have great coaches who invest in kids every day, and I am proud to help build an environment where effort, character, and development come first.”
Unrau and his wife, Kaitlin, who teaches and coaches three sports at Valley Center High School, have two children, Kollyns and Kaz.
