@blockfrost_io @OuroborosOmega @fencemakerNFT @CryptoBurnerAkt @infura_io@ClayNationSales@ChilledKongBot@nmkr_io Comparing this to an artists canvas feels unfair tbh. You can't exactly abstract out the canvas from the artist. And people don't know what they don't know. I didn't know this could be an issue until this thread even.
@blockfrost_io @OuroborosOmega @fencemakerNFT @CryptoBurnerAkt @infura_io@ClayNationSales@ChilledKongBot@nmkr_io Any potential NFT project could certainly look up what this whole ipfs thing is. But why would anyone know it should be pinned on multiple hosts for consistency? Documentation points to pinning it once and it will just work.
@OuroborosOmega @fencemakerNFT @blockfrost_io @CryptoBurnerAkt @infura_io@ClayNationSales@ChilledKongBot@nmkr_io Well, to be fair, how many projects don't use someone like those tools? Or even using @fencemakerNFT ? People use reputable minters cause it means they don't need to worry about it. They don't even know this IPFS stuff is an issue.
@fencemakerNFT @blockfrost_io @CryptoBurnerAkt @infura_io@ClayNationSales@ChilledKongBot Was going to say something similar. You can have a passion for creating a project without fully understanding ipfs. Especially an artist.
This is why I think it makes sense to handle this as either a minting standard or something to have it pinned in 2 spots?
@xyzzyyyy@blockfrost_io @CryptoBurnerAkt @infura_io@ClayNationSales@ChilledKongBot Again, didn't ghost. It was a pre-announced hiatus and I am indeed back working on v2. Not trying to go through the same stresses.
The bot was just originally meant for a few servers, so when hundreds of projects requested I accepted and put new dev work on the back burner.
@xyzzyyyy@blockfrost_io @CryptoBurnerAkt @infura_io@ClayNationSales@ChilledKongBot See it however you want, since that's your perspective.
I was simply trying to keep up with demand, hoping that once I'm past a certain point I can allocate time to upgrading it.
The scalability didn't have to do with the capability of the bot, but rather how manual it was.
@xyzzyyyy@blockfrost_io @CryptoBurnerAkt @infura_io@ClayNationSales@ChilledKongBot This is something that will be fixed in CNFT/bot v2. The old CNFT/bot code base was never expected or meant to scale to what it became.
Hope you were able to find an alternative!
@xyzzyyyy@blockfrost_io @CryptoBurnerAkt @infura_io@ClayNationSales@ChilledKongBot Weird tweet to bring that up haha, but don't mind responding here.
Very sorry that it happened during your mint. Didn't mean to ghost everyone; I took an announced hiatus because of IRL responsibilities and an unscalable code base I couldn't fix at the time.
@blockfrost_io @CryptoBurnerAkt @infura_io@ClayNationSales@ChilledKongBot Hey @Padierfind , I know you guys use your own dedicated IPFS server for NMKR pins right? Is there any way we can leverage the fact that so many CNFTs are rolling through your factory to build a more reliable IPFS retrieval system?
@blockfrost_io @CryptoBurnerAkt @infura_io@ClayNationSales@ChilledKongBot Interesting, that's pretty petty. Is it possible to pin something already on IPFS to blockfrost? The IPFS hash (is that the correct word?) is already present in the NFT project's metadata, so not something that can be easily changed.
Sorry not an IPFS expert.
