Crafted to near perfection by Paul Thomas Anderson, Punch-Drunk Love delivers an excellent, chaotic romance movie. Anderson provides a character study of someone grappling with anger issues in a raw, real way not typically seen in a film.

After closing earlier this year, The Paris — New York’s last single-screen theater — reopened for a limited run of MARRIAGE STORY. Now, the iconic theater will be kept open and become a home for special Netflix events, screenings, and theatrical releases.
Ended the night off with a horrible Netflix film, Earthquake Bird (a dismal 3/10 rating), just because I like to suffer. I’ll be digging into #WatchmenHBO and #Mandelorian tomorrow.
Quick Review: #booksmart is funny at times, beneath the humor there are complex side characters and great writing. Leads were okay, the chemistry was great but the side characters steal the show for me. Smart film and good for a few laughs. 7/10
Western vs Eastern Cultures are at clash throughout the film. What may seem immoral for us in America is tradition in China, and the film does an amazing job contrasting these two cultures.
Finally got around to watching #TheFarewell this weekend. The film is heavily emotional, based around the Chinese tradition of not telling a loved one they are terminally ill. The score by Alex Weston sets the mood perfectly. One of the best films of the year. 9/10
Awkwafina gives a very strong lead performance, but the spotlight is on Chinese actress Zhao Shuzhen, who plays the grandma in the film. She is extremely lovable and brings a lot of humor to an otherwise depressing film. Would love to see a supporting actress nominatiom. #Oscars
Quick Review: Decided to give the #Netflix documentary #Bikram a watch last night. While the documentary is no cinematic marvel, it does expose Bikram for the predator and scum he is. Very timely #metoo documentary. 6/10
Quick Review: just finished watching #KlausNetflix, which was a step above most of the Netflix original movies. The movie didn’t put me in the holiday cheer mood, with a disappointed narrative, but the animation in the film was spectacular on every level. 6/10 #Klaus
William Dafoe should be a lock for a Best Supporting Actor nomination, as well as the front runner for the category as well. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Robert Pattinson snag a Best Actor nom either. #TheLighthouse#Oscars
The Lighthouse, directed by Robert Eggers, is a examination of what happens when two lighthouse keepers descend into madness. Frantic dialogues, crisp black and white cinematography, and Oscar worthy performances create one of the best film experiences of the year. 9/10
