We've been gone a while. Our purpose was giving CO Libertarians a voice when LINOs controlled the Party. We'll be in hiatus until there is a purpose. While that could be the Mises Pieces, we all know that any leadership can go wrong, and no matter faction, we will call out.
Atomism is ridiculously anti-libertarian.
The fundamental principle of libertarianism is self-ownership.
Self-ownership cannot be taken from you. Ever. Period. It can be attacked, however. We'll get back to that.
You have agency, where you choose what you're doing. That is part of the foundational argument for self-ownership, but it's also something that is often argued about. If a god created us, knowing what we'd do or if we're truly chaos, then maybe we don't have agency. Thus, despite the argument, it's not a proof.
So, what IS the proof? Circularity. For societal agreements to exist, there must be a choice to make. We must be able to choose. If we can choose, then we must own ourselves to make those decisions because we are individuals who control our actions. Without that ability? Then no agreements can be made. Our thoughts are either completely determined, in which case, it's absurd to punish anyone (or do ANYTHING), or we're making choices. You make choices. We all know we make choices. Thus, the idea of agreements? Only exists from self-ownership.
Property rights? They come from self-ownership. If you don't own yourself, then you cannot possibly own anything else.
The NAP? The Non-aggression principle? It's not a principle. It's a corollary. It comes from the fact that we own ourselves.
Why? That's us getting back to the attacks.
Everything you do goes back to that self-ownership. That means that any attack on anything you have or do is an attack on that self-ownership. Violating that self-ownership means that there are circumstances where your own self-ownership could be violated. That is, to a libertarian, abhorrent. Since you can't violate self-ownership, you can't aggress on someone else. That means their person, their personhood, their personage cannot be violated without attacking their self-ownership.
That fact is why libertarians, inherently, find bigotry unacceptable: it's an attack on personhood. Which means it's an attack on self-ownership. Which means that even the NAPtarians who make a corollary their entire personality inherently must ALSO be against it.
So, finally, we're back to atomism.
Aggression requires defense. An attack on ANYONE'S self-ownership is abhorrent. And if something is abhorrent, it must be stood against.
As such, any aggression against anyone stands against libertarianism.
The fundamental concept of libertarianism requires that we are not atomistic but, instead, are fighters against all forms of tyranny large or small.
We're not pacifists. We're fighters. For everyone. And we believe in everyone being armed exactly for times like these. ICE is violating self-ownership. Thus, no libertarian can support them. We are compelled, foundationally, to protect those being attacked.
Arm yourself, arm your family, arm your friends, arm your neighbors, and fight like hell against all tyranny.
Any word yet from James Wiley about that $1200 he took from the Libertarian Party of Colorado to create a policy manual? Did he refund that money yet or show where he did in fact create it?
