And amendments can enforce the Constitution.

Amendments do three things. 1) Clarify something already in the Constitution. 2) reverse a Supreme Court ruling, or 3) Add a new rule to the Constitution.

Congress passes law they are not authorized to control. The Courts have ruled in ways that misinterpret what certain key phrases actually mean in the Constitution or grant power to other branches when they are not authorized to do so. And Executive Branch bureaucrats issue regulations and enforce them as law when only Congress is authorized to pass law that affects people or businesses.

Amendments that clarify those key phrases, overturn rulings of the Court or add new rules that make sure no more "interpretation" is made on their own is how you enforce the limits in the Constitution. At a convention, amendments using clear and concise meanings with the federal government in mind will eliminate past interpretations and cut off the avenues previously used to make them. When to meaning is clear it is followed and that has been the case with every amendment we already have for at least 100 years.

That is the whole Article V design. Congress will not put a leash on itself. The states can call a convention limited to three things: fiscal restraints, limits on federal power and jurisdiction, and term limits. A convention can only propose. Nothing becomes law unless 38 states ratify. Thirteen states can kill any bad idea.

If you have been waiting for a constitutional off-ramp that is not “trust Washington,” this is it. Capitol season starts in January. State teams that fill now are the ones who get the meetings, the co-sponsors, and the votes. Signing a petition is good. Showing up is what moves a chamber.

This is not about a new document. Every amendment we have has been obeyed for over 100 years, so we know they work. Former are still free, women still vote, presidents still serve only 2 elected terms.

Amendments do three things. 1) Clarify something already in the Constitution. 2) reverse a Supreme Court ruling, or 3) Add a new rule to the Constitution. Amendments are necessary to change the powers of our government from time to time and protect the will and liberty of the people or when we need to remove a power because the federal government has abused it.

By clarifying the original intent of the founders using clear concise language we can return the federal government to the limits granted in the Constitution, removing all of their own interpretations of the power they have and prevent future interpreations.
