Ground crews are deploying hose lines and working to secure the fire perimeter. Air tankers continue making retardant drops, while helicopters are dropping water on hotspots and supporting firefighters working in difficult-to-access areas.
More than 200 firefighters and 80 fire engines are currently assigned to the incident.

#HolserFire Update: Ventura County firefighters are on scene of a second-alarm brush fire in the 6700 block of Holser Canyon Road, north of Piru. The fire is estimated at 20 acres and is burning in light to medium fuels.
Multiple helicopters, including Fire Hawks 4 and 5 and mutual-aid aircraft, are working the fire. Multiple air tankers are also making retardant drops in support of ground crews.
Approximately 50 fire engines and more than 100 personnel are assigned to the incident. Please avoid the area and monitor official VCFD channels for updates.

#BuenaFire Update: Ventura County firefighters are on scene of a brush fire in the 14000 block of E. Buena Vista. The fire is estimated at 3–5 acres and is burning in light to medium fuels.
Fire Hawks 4 and 5 are assisting ground crews. Fire engines are being positioned for structure defense in the Carlisle Canyon area. Air. Tankers are en route.
Evacuation warnings have been requested for Carlisle Canyon.

📬 2026–2027 Unsecured Property Tax Bills in the Mail
The Ventura County Treasurer-Tax Collector has sent out nearly 20,000 Unsecured Property Tax Bills for Fiscal Year 2026-2027. Unsecured Property Taxes are ad valorem (value-based) property taxes billed to the owner of record as of January 1 each year. Because these taxes are not secured by real property (such as land), they are referred to as "unsecured."

⏰ Payment is due August 31. Grande Fire AM Update:
The Grande Fire is at 31.9 acres with 50% containment. Evacuation orders in the area will be lifted.
Crews worked in steep terrain overnight coordinating with our UAS / Drone operators to identify and mop up hotspots.
Throughout the day, firefighters will continue mop-up efforts and improve control lines.
We thank our area partners at CAL FIRE and Los Angeles County Fire for their rapid response and close coordination during this incident.
Forward progress on the Grande Fire has been stopped at 30 acres. Firefighters will continue to be on scene throughout the night, coordinating with our Infrared UAS aircraft to identify and mop up hot spots and keep the fire from spreading further.
This incident demonstrated the important collaboration and strong relationships between VCFD and our partner agencies at LA County Fire and CAL FIRE. When fires like this happen on the boundary of our jurisdiction, all partner agencies work seamlessly together to aggressively fight fire and protect our communities.
VCFD along with LA County Fire and CAL FIRE are on scene of a brush fire south of the 126 FWY, east of Piru. The fire is currently reported at 50 acres with a moderate rate of spread in medium fuels and located in steep terrain with difficult access. Firefighters are aggressively working from the air and ground to attack the fire. Multiple fixed wing aircraft and helicopters are assigned to the incident along with over 100 firefighters assigned to the incident.

📍Engine 20 and Copter 9 responded to a remote rescue near the punchbowls in Santa Paula. One patient was airlifted from the area, and transferred to a ground ambulance with minor injuries.
