178 Public Junior Schools in Nyeri County Receive 65-Inch Interactive Smart Boards
September 21, 2026, marked a significant milestone in advancing digital learning as we commenced the rollout of interactive smart boards in Nyeri County.
The rollout was presided over by my counterpart, Amb. Dr. Caroline Karugu , Principal Secretary for East African Community Affairs and Acting Principal Secretary for ASALs & Regional Development, reflecting the strong coordination between our respective institutions in advancing digital education across the county.
Under the initial phase of this initiative, 178 public junior schools have now received 65-inch interactive smart boards and accompanying ICT equipment, including dedicated laptops for teachers.
This critical deployment is part of the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Phase II, implemented under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP) through the @ICTAuthorityKE Authority , with the strategic support of the World Bank. The ultimate goal of this phase is to fully equip all 377 public junior schools across Nyeri County.
These smart boards are more than classroom equipment. When combined with digital content, teacher capacity-building and reliable connectivity, they create interactive learning environments that equip our young people with the digital competencies required in an increasingly technology-driven economy.
The collaboration between our respective institutions demonstrates the value of coordinated government action in translating Kenya’s digital transformation priorities into tangible outcomes for learners and teachers.
Our focus must remain on ensuring that digital infrastructure translates into meaningful learning outcomes. The real measure of digital transformation is not simply the technology we deploy, but the opportunities it creates for our young people.

Africa is not short of capital. Our domestic capital pools have surpassed $4trillion. What stands between these savings and the infrastructure we need are the rules that determine where capital can go.
We must reshape the financial architecture to price African risk against African experience, make insurance affordable and create investable instruments that channel our savings into power, transport and industry.
Kenya is putting its own capital behind this agenda and building the instruments to turn savings into productive assets. Africa has the capital to finance its development. We must now make it possible for that capital to build Africa.
Addressed the Africa We Build High-Level Roundtable on Regulation, Risk and Reward, on the margins of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Met the Executive Director of UNODC and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna, @Monica_Juma_, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
We agreed to establish a team bringing together the Ministry of Interior, the Office of the Attorney-General, the Ministry of Health and other relevant agencies to develop a strategy on cybercrime, maritime crime, border control and drug abuse.
We will deepen cooperation with UNODC on training and strengthening law enforcement capacity, while exploring collaboration on standards for the treatment of drug abuse.
We will also advance the necessary internal processes on the cybercrime convention, including submitting the matter to Parliament in a timely manner.

HELB at the ICX Kenya 2026 CEO Breakfast Forum
HELB CEO Geoffrey Monari joined industry leaders at the ICX Kenya 2026 CEO Breakfast Forum under the theme: 🎯 “Leading for ROX: Reimagining Customer Value in the Age of AI.”
The discussions explored Leveraging Technology to Serve Stakeholders Better, with a focus on how digital transformation can enhance customer experience while keeping people at the heart of service delivery.
CEO Geoffrey Monari emphasised that technology is an enabler, not an end in itself. At HELB, digitisation has made student financing simpler, faster, safer and more accessible, while ensuring that students can access support through multiple channels and still experience the human connection that builds trust.
As HELB advances its digital transformation agenda, our success factor remains clear: blend digitisation with humanisation.
From the first point of contact, HELB is committed to creating a student financing journey that is more accessible, responsive and supportive.
Digitise the journey. Humanise the experience. Build lasting trust.

⛳ One Swing. One Cause. Endless Impact.
Mark your calendars! The AWAK 2026 Charity Golf Tournament is teeing off on Saturday, 19th September 2026 at Thika Greens Golf Resort.
It was a real delight to welcome and address more than 170 students and young professionals from 35 countries at the #ModelUN conference at #UNVienna today.
The commitment of young people such as them, especially at this time, is an affirmation that a better future is not simply something we hope for; it is something already taking shape in the minds and ambitions of the younger generation.
That is why the Model United Nations is invaluable; it gives young people a space to understand diplomacy, listen to one another, and to forge solutions together to the challenges of today and tomorrow.
Grateful to the VICMUN, the UN Association for Austria, and @MFA_Austria for organizing this conference.
Always a pleasure to return to the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance, MCDF in Beijing.
At a time when the global community is navigating intensifying competition for development financing and calls for a more equitable international financial architecture, we deeply value MCDF's insights on innovative financing models for developing nations.
Sincere appreciation to CEO Mr. Zhongjing Wang and the esteemed MCDF Secretariat for their continued partnership in advancing Kenya's development cooperation agenda including their support toward project preparation for the Rironi-Mau Summit Highway, currently underway under a PPP model.
