The U.S. Supreme Court ruling striking down unjustified IEEPA tariffs is a step in the right direction.

Unfortunately, tariffs on Canadian steel, aluminum, lumber, autos, and other products remain despite the ruling, and continue to inflict real damage on Canadian workers and industries.

In a successful CUSMA review, we expect lumber, aluminum, steel, and auto tariffs to be lifted.

Anything less than this means our workers will continue to suffer. Prime Minister Carney promised to negotiate a win and get a deal by July 21 of last year. U.S. tariffs on Canada have gotten worse.

The truth is no one can control what President Trump will say or do and so we must instead focus on what we can control. We must unblock our energy and minerals, unleash our economy, and bolster our military and self-reliance for leverage to fight for tariff-free trade with the U.S.

Our mission must be an affordable, safe, and self-reliant Canada. As always, Conservatives stand ready to work with the government during this critical period in the interest of Canada.
