Absolutely fantastic to welcome today social work colleagues from China, South Africa, Canada, Jamaica, Greece and the UK - inspiring speakers at our annual Social Work conference with a main topic this year 'Social Work in a Global Context: International Research and Practice'.
In a new podcast episode 🎙️📻📱 titled 'Allow me to empower you: the wisdom of self-care' our own Prof @JonesFio meets Professor Paul Batalden to discuss coproduced healthcare service.

Just finished delivering a talk for @CPE_FHSCE explaining what the Lived Experience Professions are and why PPI teams should be employing LXPs throughout their teams, from top and throughout all other levels from there
Dropping into the last part of @CPE_FHSCE's latest session "Labour of love or thankless work: what kind of work is PPI?"
My thoughts are well summarised here and also relate to @IdeasAlliance_ blog from Isaac shared earlier today.
Lived experience professions, this is a new term for me @CPE_FHSCE. An umbrella term for people with lived experience or protected characteristic and this is an occupational requirement for a role e.g facilitators, trainers, support workers.
PPI work isnt recognised as 'proper' work, its just talking! Except a) talking is important b) it comes from a place where the challenger also doesnt feel valued, nurses for instance. the workplace is becoming more and more hostile... @Skourkos1@CPE_FHSCE
not task and finish @Skourkos1 talking at the Labour of love PPI conference @CPE_FHSCE. Institutional infrastructure, concepts of value for money vs altruism, flexibility, innovation etc doesnt fit with PPI, because PPI work is 'behind the scenes, tacit', hard to measure
Coproduction is a buzz word that people claim (and tell public contributors they're part of), but its a way of working. Its draining for public contributors always to have to point out that its not coproduction - @lynn_laidlaw @CPE_FHSCE
Coproduction is a way of working, a set of principles. Calling out when coproduction isnt 'real' can be exhausting for public contributors. It's our job too, as researchers and PPI professionals @NIHRARCs@CPE_FHSCE@NIHRinvolvement
I think what is interesting about this event is that it is making clear the link between PPI and equality. I'm not sure that a lot of researchers see that link. @Zoe_AGray@CPE_FHSCE@NIHRARCs
