CPM helped secure a historic tentative global settlement of $4.037 billion for the victims of the August 2023 Maui wildfires. Achieving a settlement of this magnitude in under one year is unprecedented. Although additional steps are required before the settlement is finalized, for many victims this represents a meaningful step toward rebuilding their homes, communities, and lives.

The Lahaina Fire destroyed more than 2,000 structures and claimed the lives of at least 102 people. The scale of loss is immeasurable, and CPM’s team including Frank Pitre, Cynthia Wong, Nabilah Hossain, Julie Fieber, Duffy Magilligan, John Thyken, and Andrew Britton led a coalition of firms to move this case forward at a pace rarely seen in mass disaster litigation.
