Safety is also a priority for our crews who are working across our service area for our community. Our teams are taking extra precautions throughout the day, including frequent hydration and rest breaks.

DANGEROUS HEAT: NWS has issued a Heat Advisory for the San Antonio from Thursday, August 20th all the way through Sunday, August 23rd. High temps 102°+ with heat index values up to 110°. Stay cool, hydrated, and take frequent breaks if working outdoors.
🌳⚡ Trees and power lines don't always make good neighbors!
Overgrown trees, vines, and other vegetation near power lines can create safety concerns and potentially impact electric service. That's why our crews work year-round to safely maintain vegetation around our electric infrastructure.
If you notice trees or vegetation growing too close to power lines, don't attempt to trim or remove them yourself. Let our trained professionals safely assess the situation and determine the appropriate next steps.

There's still time to help improve air quality in our community and take advantage of the 2026 Mow Down Smog rebate. 🌱💨
Customers who purchase qualifying electric lawn equipment between March 1 and August 31, 2026, may be eligible for a rebate. Eligible equipment includes electric lawn mowers, edgers, blowers, hedge trimmers, and more. Don't miss out!
The deadline to purchase qualifying equipment for this year's rebate is August 31. Learn more about eligible equipment and how to apply at https://t.co/dl8WJgn6bi

🌡️ Higher temperatures can mean higher energy use, but why?
During the hottest months of the year, your A/C often has to run longer and work harder to keep your home comfortable. Even warm overnight temperatures can make a difference, giving your home less time to naturally cool down before the next day begins.
The good news? There are steps you can take to better manage your energy use and your bill. 💡
From conservation tips and energy-saving programs to tools that help you track your daily usage, CPS Energy has resources available to help you stay informed and find ways to save.

August is one of the hottest months of the year in Texas. 🥵👎 It's also one of the best months to #ConserveAndSave with our buddy Cam the Chameleon! 😌👍
Based on our color-coded conservation levels, today is a YELLOW DAY, meaning temperatures are high enough to drive peak energy demand. 🟡🌡️ Here's what you can do to help reduce your energy use and costs:
- Avoid using large appliances during the daytime
- Wait to charge electric vehicles until nighttime
- Use fans in occupied rooms to feel 4-6 degrees cooler
- Close shades and blinds, and turn off unnecessary lights

It may seem like "no big dig” to plant a tree or build a fence in your yard, but it’s still legally required to call 8-1-1 before doing ANY kind of digging (big or small).
WHAT IS "CALL 811" 🤔❓
#Call811 is a free service that locates underground utility lines on your property. Texas law requires that requests be made at least two business days before digging.
WHY IT'S IMPORTANT ⚠️‼️
More than 1/3 of the gas pipeline damages in San Antonio are caused by people who did not contact 811 before digging. Not only are these damages costly, but they can be potentially hazardous in the event of a natural gas leak.
In honor of Call 811 Day, we're reminding customers to learn about safe digging protocol before starting any new projects. Please visit https://t.co/l1u5LkSbAj for more info!

There’s value in being a not-for-profit, community-owned electric and gas utility.
Our Board Chair, Dr. Francine Romero, shares her perspective in a @ExpressNews Op-ed on how our not-for-profit model prioritizes safe, reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy while keeping decisions about our community’s energy future local.
Chair Romero also provides context on how our rates compare with offers in Texas’ competitive retail market.
"But a search of Houston prices this past week showed rates of 12.6 cents or higher, comparable to CPS Energy," Dr. Romero said. "If San Antonio were opened to retail competition, the dollars paid through the general fund transfer would likely go to private investors outside of our community and provide no return benefit."
