900k trips are made by bus in Scotland every day, but the average bus travels at just 11.3mph. Speeding up buses needs to be a priority to unlock economic gains.

The number of bus trips per person outside London rose from 25 to 28 last year according to the National Travel Survey, out today.

The national bus fare cap, and investment by operators in new routes, services, and vehicles, boosted the popularity of bus travel during 2024.
