Evacuation Update from Rio Grand County

Mandatory evacuation orders have been lifted for some areas in South Fork, Del Norte and Monte Vista.

Evacuations have been lifted from Upper River Greens in South Fork to Del Norte. In the town of Del Norte from 1st Street to Highway 160 and from Del Norte to County Road 6 East.

Residents in these areas may now return to their homes.

Residents are urged to use caution when returning, as hazards remain following the recent flooding.

Evacuation orders being lifted does not mean all hazards have passed. Please use caution and continue monitoring official updates.

EVACUATION UPDATE | ALL CITY OF DURANGO EVACUATIONS LIFTED

Some much-needed good news, Durango!

All evacuation orders within Durango city limits have been lifted. Residents may begin returning home.

IMPORTANT: Some areas may only be accessible on foot due to road closures, flooding, or damaged infrastructure. Please use caution, respect barricades, and never drive through floodwater.

To everyone who had to leave their homes, face uncertainty, and trust emergency responders: thank you. We know these past several days haven't been easy. Your cooperation helped keep people safe and allowed crews to focus on those who needed help most.

To the first responders, volunteers, neighbors, and countless community members who stepped up when it mattered most, we couldn't be more grateful.

This is what community looks like. This is Durango.
While evacuation orders have been lifted, hazards remain, and recovery continues. Not all roads are open, and not every property may be safe to enter.

The Animas River in Durango rose from 1500 cfs yesterday to 13,000 cfs by 10:45 a.m. today. Just an insane amount of water.

Don't be the person who blows through a CDOT roadblock and almost drives into the Piedra River where the bridge over US 160 no longer exists. Despite our patrols blocking roads, this still almost happened.
