(2) Employees are hard to find these days. She finished the work , got what you wanted and that’s how you thank her? Or it’s a skit? The last sentence where you stated she’s horrible 😅. I don’t think
I had to fire my best employee today
Anna, six years with us, never late, clients loved her
But she betrayed my trust in the worst possible way
Yesterday I left the office at 4:30pm, as required by German law
I noticed I forgot my jacket. Came back at 5:50pm
Anna was still there
"What the hell are you doing?" I asked her
"Finishing the report, sir, it's due tomorrow"
My heart sank
One hour and twenty minutes of illegal overtime. Right there in front of me
This morning I called her in
"Anna, you know why you're here"
"The report? Client loved it. We got the contract"
"I don't care about it. You violated German labor law. You are fired"
She started crying, I called security to walk her out
Still can't believe she did this to me. Horrible woman
But isn’t that what they want in Germany ? Work more hours? I mean it depends on the contract she signed. When it clearly says no overtime then ok but couldn’t you handle it differently? Like , she can leave earlier any other day. Wasn’t that a little bit overreacting? Good (1)

Can someone please recommend a Netflix show that’s actually addictive, the kind that makes people stay up all night and finish season one in one sitting?
You should have met in the middle, keep the frame but paint it white. He’s right the dark wood outshines everything. But also he doing it behind your back is wrong
My husband and I are in a HEATED debate and I need y’all to settle this once and for all.
We’ve been renovating our 1920s house for the past two years, and this archway transformation has caused the biggest fight we’ve had since we disagreed about bedroom paint colors.
Originally, we had this gorgeous rustic wood frame around our archway — thick, dark beams that gave it so much character. I found the inspiration online from a woman who does incredible woodwork and even bought a custom stain from her. We spent three weekends installing those beams and added my uncle’s carved fish as the centerpiece.
I LOVED it.
My husband, however, never stopped complaining.
“It’s too dark.”
“It makes the space feel smaller.”
“It’s too rustic for our style.”
On and on and ON.
So last month, while I was visiting my sister, he decided to “surprise” me.
I came home to him on a ladder with power tools, ripping out all the woodwork. Just… gone. Back to a plain, boring archway.
He’s standing there all proud like,
“Look how much brighter it is! So clean and open!”
And I’m staring at this basic builder-grade opening thinking…
Did we just go backwards?
Now he says the plain version is “timeless and clean.”
I think we just turned a custom architectural detail into every basic house in America.
We argued about this for two hours.
Him:
“See how much bigger the space looks now? So bright and airy!”
Me:
“WE HAD CHARACTER. WE HAD PERSONALITY. NOW IT LOOKS LIKE A RENTAL PROPERTY AGAIN.”
He thinks the wood was overwhelming.
I think this is overwhelming in its complete lack of soul.
So here we are. The wood beams are gone (RIP my beautiful archway), and I’m staring at this plain opening wondering if we just made the biggest mistake of our renovation.
PLEASE tell me what you think.
The rustic wood version or this “clean” version?
Do I make him put the beams back up…
or do I accept that sometimes husbands actually know what they’re talking about? 😅
