@jovian34@iubase17 Any chance Swartz decides not to sign and plays for IU? You would think NIL money has freed up with recent departures, giving Mercer the flexibility to offer something to entice him to stick with the Hoosiers.
@JackRizzoPxP@TheHoosierNet Also, this still could be a calculated move. IU could be trying to free up NIL to go after/focus on better pitching. Don’t forget IU still has a good recruiting class coming in, 26th nationally/2nd in the B10.
@JackRizzoPxP@TheHoosierNet I agree you bring up valid points. But, IU was able to maintain Hogan Denny, who is the better player. Also, IU baseball doesn’t have the Baseball NIL budget like a SEC or even most of the ACC schools. So of course they’re going to loose (pouched) players to the SEC/ACC.
@JUhlTrucker@HorwitzZach I would argue his best szn was ‘23. Where he had more wins than ‘19 and longer postseason run than ‘19. Also, Mercer is 2nd in total wins in the B10 and is tied for 1st with 3 regional appearances. So by the numbers, Mercer has been one of the best coaches since ‘19 in the B10
@CrimsonCast If Painter wants to win a championship and cement his legacy, he’ll be stupid not to at least entertain them. Don’t forget, Painter came very close leaving Purdue for Mizzu back in 2011.
@jovian34@iubase17 Then if that’s the case, the umps were wrong. Cause obstruction is only if the fielder does not have the ball or is not making an immediate play/catch for the ball. If the fielder has the ball in his hand/glove they are entitled to the space.
@iubase17 Even though this season has started off somewhat disappointing, have to keep in mind how young this team is. Relying on a lot of Freshman and Sophomores. This team has the players to get hot and turn it around quickly.
