CEP fusing humanistic play+art therapy techniques into EP assessment for semh needs. Love training EPs, designing gardens for wildlife, bird watching + cake🦋
Cooo... so excited about Tim publishing this - we talk about the importance of giving students a safe accessible means of expressing troubles they're experiencing, bringing about systemic change + using https://t.co/4x8kX3oV2h as a means to do that. #twittereps
@CathLowther@pauldixtweets@AEPsychologists@guardian Thank goodness! A child being sent out of class more than once = signal that we need to better understand what is going on, so to take action to improve the child's learning/current experience/circumstance. Repeated isolation is not an intervention - it is failing to intervene.
Oh dear me...
Is there really so much work to do to inform those in positions of influence... I wager noone can listen to this without shuddering. #twittereps

@EPonSea I think the therapeutic use of self, particularly in peer supervision, needs to be explicitly labelled - so it is seen in the dialogue, used as data, as opposed to judgement/opinion.
@jgetaylor Also might be helpfuly to explore the opposite - when feels strong and confident and proud and pleased with yourself... then see some beliefs/associations emerging and can look at understandings about situations when people don't feel that way.
@Helen_Tyson@LaurenHywEds Just looked it up - what fundamentally key work to be involved in. I hope you'll share further info and updates. I do think we need to grow so much better at promoting a sense of belonging in schools and actively building community in UK - much of modern life acts against both.
The Pesticide Action Network has prepared this ace means for sending pre-written email to ceos of major supermarkets, enabling us to request they stop supporting use of bee-destroying sprays through their supply chains choices. Let's rally their influence.

@EPonSea I think a key point is over note taking... so there is no onerous EP workload from these sessions, yet staff have working action points/understandings they can take away with them.
@EPonSea The key things are how the sessions are publicised, convenience of time/place in their school day + ease of booking. I had schoold have a sign up notice in their staff room. I had agreed with senior staff that they would draw to staff attention in the usual moring briefings.
@Gateshead_GPS am - Therapeutic assessment with a yp followed by consultation and planning with the yp, parent/carers and key staff.
- a break for a proper lunch
pm - admin space and phone consultations in early afternoon, then after-school staff supervision/cpd
@Fi_Contextual @mirandarwolpert Absolutely - its the misleading headline conclusion that mindfulness doesn't work that is my issue.
I'll sign out now!
🙏🏼
@Fi_Contextual @mirandarwolpert There isn't much point in being on a grand scale if the design fails to account for a basic tenet of teaching... the teacher has to be knowledgable and committed and engaging/convincing on the subject.
@Fi_Contextual @mirandarwolpert You can look up the studies... and yes, training any teacher to deliver a program well costs money - thankfully cpd remains funded in many schools and LAs offer low cost courses... see what's on offer from EP services for example. Sometimes free/gov funded as in TAMHS initiative.
