So I’m still going to become a filmmaker… maybe? I’m going to do better for myself, learn from this experience and even share my experience so others understand that they make or break the spaces they are either invited into or the friendships/collaborations they walk with in.

And lastly (5) Own your shit and behavior and the out come. You are not entitled to be in the spaces of the people you affected, nor there peers, and there peers spaces. You are apart of there experience, be it positive or negative.

(4) Respect the people you work with, collaborate with or partner with. Their time be it paid or volunteer is as valuable as your own time. There skills, workmanship, input and presence is just as important as the project your wanting them to be apart of.

(3) Be direct and set expectations. Communication is key… period! Be Clear and transparent from start to finish.

A detractors experience is just as important as a promoters and determines whether you’re welcomed to be apart of or into spaces, Collabs or friendships.

(2) A negative experience, is just that it’s a negative experience. We either create safe spaces or we create toxic spaces. As creators how we engage others and define those spaces will either create promoters of us or detractors.

(1) Be better, do better! Our actions have consequences, and from those consequences are moments to step back, deal, embrace and decide to either change nothing or change for the better!

My team and I made the decision to put out a short film to reflect the hard work of everyone that worked on it. We released the short film and to this day it feels empty, because of my actions. So I share these 5 things with you.

I had a bad director’s moment, a bad friend moment, a bad person moment. A moment that an apology can’t reopen the door of friendship. So I wanted to give up film making, and creating in general.
