Congratulations to CS3 students Minghao Chen and Sevin Mohammadi (PhD students @CUSEAS) on their accomplishments at #INFORMS2024! Minghao earned an award at the Aviation Applications Best Student Presentation Competition, and Sevin participated in the @INFORMS poster session.
It was a pleasure joining our partners at the @SmartCityExpo in Barcelona for a special #SCEWC24 🌇.
We had a great time walking the Expo floor, exploring groundbreaking innovations, and learning from international #SmartCity leaders.
By 2050, it is projected that approximately 68% of the global population will live in urban areas, which equates to about 6.7 billion people based on current United Nations estimates. This shift toward urbanization is expected to continue as more people move to cities for economic opportunities and improved living conditions. Smart city technology can help manage the growth along with the recent rise of regenerative cities—urban centers designed to have a restorative relationship with the environment that protects and enhances local ecosystems.
