@racing_dudes It also helps that NBC makes a 6 hour broadcast out of it with celebrity appearances. You can be entertained as a casual fan who doesn’t know the sport, similar to non football fans who watch Super Bowl for commercials and halftime show

@racing_dudes we live in a casino culture now. Everyday there is something to wager on. Sports, wars, politics. I’d argue most of the 24M aren’t flocking towards horse racing as a personal passion. It’s just the highest profile thing to gamble on for a Saturday in May when there’s no NFL.
