Early March was intense as I travelled to Berlin and met 19 other women from 13 countries: #feminist voices influencing #transport. We had open conversations: pride in our work, the challenges, road blocks we faced and gender (in)equality in Germany. I've had a few thoughts:
6. Participation: The @TransportDelhi must discuss the service plan with residents, and obtain their feedback along with effective and sustained communications when the services are launched.

What if road owning agencies: ULBs (Urban Development Departments), Public Works Departments and NHAI adopted #Vision#Zero? How might that change the way roads are planned, designed, built and maintained?

"Parking on sidewalks communicate the implicit wrong message that motor vehicle owners are more important than the rest of the population. To ensure they do not park illegally on sidewalks, motor vehicle registration should require proof of long-term access to a parking space."

#Analysis | There is an increasing discussion around the importance of incorporating a gender lens in urban mobility, with limited attention to urban governance and planning frameworks.

Meet @Urban_Catalysts, a transformative organization that is mitigating and adapting to climate change through gender-sensitive urban mobility plans and guidelines. They bridge the gap between communities and decision-makers to create inclusive public spaces for all genders. 💜🙌
Did you know that city design, policies, institutional, & regulatory frameworks can reinforce traditional gender roles & stereotypes? @Urban_Catalysts are changing that through their feminist development approaches to transform mobility systems and public spaces for all womxn.🚶♀️
@Abaezgrace on the underutilization of the MLCP near Green Park Metro Station, based on our study:
On-street parking prices need to be substantially higher on Balbir Saxena Marg and Nala Road to encourage long-term users to shift to the tower parking 1/2
https://t.co/dfkY6onSfq
"Balbir Saxena Marg, is a no-parking zone & has numerous cars parked, mostly for free, due to limited enforcement. If pedestrian facilities on Aurobindo Marg are improved, Yusuf Sarai market users could walk comfortably to and from the MLCP.”
Our report: https://t.co/5DSXTq4agn
The only people who get free housing are people in jail and people in government. But we provide a space for cars to park everywhere for free on public land. We have to address the whole politics of parking, first and foremost.

Shashi Verma from Transport for London
If you can’t even enforce parking regulations, then forget about trying to enforce a congestion charge. (In India, including Delhi) parking is provided at an incredibly cheap price, if not free...

As #IWD month draws to a close, I took a moment to reflect. We've had a number of firsts in #India, for #gender#inclusive#cities#mobility:
- In 2014, led a section on gender-sensitive cities in the URDPFI Guidelines, at @WRIIndia. Link: https://t.co/JU4w7ehWiF

This is against the principles of the Delhi Parking Management Rules 2019.
On-street parking Parking is NOT a right, but must be regulated and priced.
