I would like that today we may together begin to build a culture of reconciliation. We must meet one another, heal our wounds, and forgive the wrongs we did and did not do, but whose effects we still carry. There are no enemies — only brothers and sisters. What we need are gestures and policies of reconciliation.
In the face of hatred and violence, what can we Christians do? First of all, we must pray. It is up to us to turn every tragic news story and image that touches us into a cry of intercession to God. Then, we must help others. But there is more—there is witness, our call to remain faithful to Jesus, who conquered evil by loving from the cross.
Brilliant news! He is described as a kind, open, humble, modest, decisive, hard-working, straightforward, trustworthy, and down-to-earth man. May God bless him. Pope Francis would be pleased.
This was Pope Francis’s last public appearance. His final gesture of love for the Church was the Urbi et Orbi blessing with which Catholics celebrate the Resurrection on Easter. Let us listen to his words and pray for the eternal repose of our shepherd.
