📈Jamaica Records Lowest Murder Figure for January, Since 2001

Jamaica recorded 33 murders in January of 2026, marking the lowest number of murders in any single month since the country began systematically collecting crime statistics in 2001.

The figure represents a significant 55 per cent reduction compared with January 2025, when 74 murders were recorded. The decline translates to 41 fewer lives lost year-on-year.

The dramatic decrease has drawn attention to the sharp improvement in public safety at the start of the year, standing out against long-term crime trends over the past two decades.
