@artnews Emma Amos attended @AntiochCollege a few years after Coretta Scott King—another in a long line of changemakers who refuse to accept the status quo and sought to win victories for humanity.

Amos's work was recently shown at the Georgia Museum of Art (@GMOA) and will be featured later this year at the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute in Utica, NY (@MWPAI), and the Philadelphia Museum of Art (@philamuseum).

The work of @AntiochCollege alumna Emma Amos ‘58 challenged the status quo in the art world and in society at large through her experimental works which confronted issues of power, race, gender, culture, and the struggle for freedom of expression.

Amos identified the fact that women were often omitted from Black representation in art, and in response she unabashedly made art that reflected the experience of Black women.
