Without them our jails wouldn't run. They play a vital part. I get what the government are trying to do to make us all equal in terms of pay

They want to publish all our failings etc, about how it's unsafe.

Charlie Taylor has stated in HMIP reports that it costs £45k of tax payer money to keep someone in Jail per year. You don't even pay 2/3s of that as basic wages to a B3 officer to most the country and you wonder why the system is failing. Invest in your people! @POAUnion

@pingydoran @SophieAOtter @hmpps @HmppsInsights Not in all jails, some are thriving, with staff. However retention is low. Morale is at an all time low. Most B3 have only worked through COVID regimes. When jails go back to Stage 1, watch them leave in droves
