SCAM ALERT: Fake DMV Texts Targeting Coloradans

Scam text messages pretending to be from the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles are making the rounds. Let’s clear this up: These messages are NOT from the Colorado DMV.

DMV will never send unsolicited texts or emails demanding payment, threatening prosecution, or claiming your driving privileges are about to be suspended. If you get one of these messages, remember:

- Do NOT click any links. Scammers want to trick you into giving up your personal info.

- Do NOT share personal or financial details. The DMV doesn’t need your driver’s license number, Social Security number, or banking info over text.

- Do NOT reply. Any response just tells the scammer you’re a real person.

If you’re unsure, contact the Colorado DMV directly using official channels. Let’s keep those scammers in the rearview mirror.
