44 years since its first issue, we’re happy to announce that Clinton St. Quarterly has been digitally archived with Portland State University’s Library. Come celebrate the completion of this project with the team that originally published CSQ & the people who helped archived it!
Throughout the years, our covers featured a number of wonderful artists like Steve Winkenwerder (Summer 1983), Jana Rekosh (Summer 1987), Carmen Miranda (Spring 1988), and Jim Blashfield (Fall-Winter 1988).
Writer and Lambda Literary award finalist Ruthann Robson and artist Claudia Cave, whose work has been exhibited in galleries and museums, worked together on this short story “Paternity” that can be found in CSQ’s PDX Spring 1988 issue.
“Why is the originality so readily granted us in literature so mistrustfully denied us in our different attempts at social change?” Gabriel Garcia Marquez, won the 1982 Nobel Prize in Literature, delivered this Nobel lecture in Stockholm. Read it in CSQ’s PDX Winter 1983 issue!
Before going on to make award-winning music videos, films, and Sesame Street, Jim Blashfield designed, edited, and photographed for Clinton St Quarterly. You can also see his contributions in a number of our issues in the CSQ archive!
“To be different is not to be inferior, not to be superior, but to be different.” - Ursula K. Le Guin
Le Guin responds to an article on the biological differences between men and women in our Winter 1982 (Portland & Seattle Edition) issue.
