OFFENSIVE, DEFENSIVE & SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 🏈
Congratulations to our Ponte Vedra Players of the Week for their outstanding performances against Fleming Island!
🏈 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK — Senior RB Alexander Winkles
Alexander had an impressive performance, carrying the ball 21 times for 122 rushing yards while adding five receptions for 71 yards.
What is most impressive about Alexander, however, is the way he approaches every practice rep, both on the field and in the weight room. Great players don’t elevate their performance to the level of their competition; they fall back on the standard they hold themselves to every day.
Alexander is truly a difference-maker and a leader, the kind of player every TEAM wants in its locker room.
💪 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK — Senior LB Robert Gilvarry
Robert turned in an outstanding performance with eight tackles, including two tackles for loss, a quarterback sack and a pass breakup.
While the statistics were impressive, what stood out most was Robert’s physicality and relentless pursuit of the football. His effort and intensity helped set the tone for the entire defense to FLY TO THE BALL.
As noted in the photo, Robert also earned DAWG/Practice Player of the Week honors. He continues to be an impact senior on the field and a leader by example; selfless, humble and committed to a WE > ME mindset.
⚡ SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK — Sophomore K/H Campbell Sheppard
Campbell was recognized for a job well done as our holder on PATs and field goals, recording three PAT holds and one field-goal hold.
The holder’s role can sometimes be overlooked, but it is a critical part of our special teams unit. Campbell’s preparation, consistency and execution help give our kicker the best possible opportunity to be successful.
Congratulations to Alexander, Robert and Campbell on their outstanding performances and, more importantly, their contributions to the TEAM!
THREE PLAYERS. THREE ROLES. ONE TEAM.
THREE DAWGs.
This morning, at our first full team meeting of the 2026 season, we reviewed our DAWG Program—what it is, why it was implemented, and how to earn DAWG status. In addition, the coaching staff recognized our March DAWGs of the Month—athletes who consistently demonstrate and fully embody Discipline, Grit, and the three DAWG Pillars of Success: Conduct, Commitment, and Drive. This standard is designed not only to develop better football players, but to shape stronger teammates, responsible students, leaders in the community, and ultimately prepare them for life beyond the game.
Each DAWG will wear their DAWG shirt every Monday to help set the tone for the week and serve as a model for teammates striving to earn DAWG status. Our goal is simple: to have as many players as possible achieve DAWG status before the start of fall camp.
The following players were recognized: Campbell Sheherd, Luke Johnson, Reece Kenning, Tucker Van Ryan, Robert Gilvarry, and Jack Kowalski.
These athletes, along with those who have already earned DAWG status, set the standard through their discipline, commitment, and grit. Their daily actions, especially in the unseen hours, reflect what it truly means to be a DAWG. As the saying goes, “Iron sharpens iron”—disciplined, hard-working players make their teammates better, and in turn, elevate themselves as well. Keep pushing, stay consistent, and continue raising the bar for yourselves and your teammates.
DAWGs don’t just meet the standard—they establish it and uphold it.
